That has been done on numerous occasions, in fact it has been beaten to death. But inescapably, in the final analysis the potential fallibility of DBT ends up being much less than the potential fallibility of subjective impression.

Anyway, maybe it's a little bit of all? If I were an objectivist and couldn't detect sonic differences with cables, I would certainly take the millions of «believers» into consideration. It's not like they are sort of a religious community with a common belief, they are just people who share a common experience. And it's too simple to attribute it to marketing hype and placebo effects, and it's unscientific to entirely discount a more serious background.
