Just checking back in. 
 
After a few weeks with the AD2000 and the AD900x it is safe to say the ad900x will be finding a new home soon. The difference is not huge but I like the AD2000 more. I guess it's not that suprising.... In the end I found the ad2k to have a more emotional less dry feel. The ad900x just felt too polite(less intimate) and not as lush. If I wanted balanced and neutralish i would keep the ad900x but that is what my paradox are for. 
 
I will be making a FS thread tonight but if anyone here wants first dibs on my ad900x PM me.

Short of playing the actual CDs, I converted my favorites to WavPack/Hybrid format at the highest settings (versus MP3, FLAC, Wav, etc.). Takes about 25mins for a 12 song album. This makes for large music files but makes no difference to me on a full sized computer with a couple terabytes of storage and is all the less wear and tear on the CD players.
 
Had to find the WavPack.exe file to load in Foobar and used the Blu-Ray for the CD player and re-tagged the titles. Well worth it with decent phones and these really nice opamps (DACs) I have on my sound card.
 
It's either high quality recordings for playback or it gets kinda boring or disappointing even through the AD700. DVD or equivalent newer movies are always fun.

Does anyone have any experience using the ATH-ad900x with the audioengine d1 dac/amp. I've been using it and it seems that the sound is less clear and not very balanced. I tried using my fiio e6 with my ath-ad900x and it sounded a lot better than my audioengine d1. Is there a reason for why the d1 dac wouldn't work well with ath-ad900x. Also what would be the best dac/amp combo to pair with my ath-ad900x?

Don't own either one. Have AD700 and a sound card. Dac sound will vary, if they are not replaceable then you are suck with how they sound. Some types of dac will favor highs or lows, just depends.  Try reading the opinions on Amazon about your D1 and your E6 amp. The amp just boosts the original single and can be adjusted for signal output (ex. more bass) but that is about it. A dac sometimes "colors" the original sound signal, not always for the better or like I said favors the highs, mids, lows, etc.
 
With your AD900X you can hear the differences.

I don't know what the "best" combo would be, but I have gotten happily stuck on the ELE DAC ($20) + E12 v1 + the AD900X. Obviously there are better DAC's out there, but this thing is pretty darned good imo. It brightens things up a tad (which the AD900X doesn't really need), but the AD900X still sounds great directly out of it. Add in the E12 (& bass boost), and it adds a beautiful amount of body and bass extension. Really sounds amazing even with stuff like dubstep. Right now I am jumping between the AD900X and the WS99's on the ELE DAC + E12, and it's all good.

Is AD2000x worth for upgrade if i've got W5000,A2000x,AD2000 ?
 
I've heard AD2000x sounds technically better than AD2000. But how about to compare it with W5000/A2000x ?

Early impressions and I don't have an AD900X for direct comparison anymore, but the AD1000X is seems much better at imaging than the AD900X. My misgivings about the AD900X's splashiness are immediately resolved.
 
However, the AD1000X is also voiced pretty distinctly. The AD900X is neutral, but the AD1000X definitely has some mid colouration (reminds me of the AD2000 but not as nasal). I'm still trying to work out exactly what is happening in terms of the sound, but it definitely has a more solid sound than the AD900X without that same sense of treble extension. It feels like a more forgiving phone.
 
It also feels way more comfortable compared to the AD900X. I think for $280 or so my initial instinct is to think that I got a great deal.
 
This sound also makes me EXTREMELY curious about what the AD2000X sounds like.
