If anyone needs a hard case option for the WP900, the geekria case on Amazon fits it perfectly! B05B4FAA-7B74-410B-A052-0732CBBF4B43.jpeg
Do you put anything in between the 2 cups, say, a piece of foam? It looks like they might end up bumping into each other a lot if they aren't padded and/or protected in that one area.

I honestly didn’t think of that! That’s a good idea, I l’ll probably put a piece of cloth between it. I just got the hard case, before that I was using the original pouch that came with the WP900.

Yeah, I would hate to see blemishes form on these headphones. They look great in pictures, but even better in real life!

Nice. I have a similar case from Go, which seems to do a pretty good job.

Some time has passed since last post. Hoping more people have picked these up, because I'm having a hard time feeling that these are 400 dollars better than the Msr7b. I understand diminishing returns, but this seems like a big jump in price. 450 would seem more reasonable. Subjectively speaking, what do current owners think? I'm close to being ready to buy my 1st big boy closed headphones. It's between these, Aeon Flow 2 closed, and the Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd generation. Unfortunately, I have no means to demo any of them.

A student of mine, a guitarist who has the MSR7b, immediately thought so. And my son, who has the Focal Utopia among his many cans, including several ATs, thinks they're the best ATs he's heard.

Best. Headphones. Ever.

The T5P 2nd gen are also marvellous.

Are they $400 dollars better? Who can say? I've paid a lot more for headphones and feel these are a bargain.

In terms of technical ability, it's the T5p (2nd Gen), followed by the AEON 2 Closed, then the WP900.

The WP900 is the least technically-astute of the 3 cans; however, it is also the cheapest of the lot. It has a relatively deep "v", with a strong mid-bass section, and some bright and detailed highs. It has the most scooped mids of the 3 headphones. However, if you are a fan of this particular signature, the WP900 will be the most enjoyable of the cans in your shortlist.

The AEON 2 Closed has the most balanced sound of the 3, with a sound that is closer to neutral. It has a slightly elevated mid-bass, which lends it a touch of warmth. It remains quite flat through the treble, which is clear and crisp.

The T5p (2nd Gen) spans the 2, with a "v-shaped" sound, similar to the WP900, but not as extreme. You will have punchy bass, a slightly-recessed midrange, and the brightest treble of the 3 headphones. It is also the most resolving can, closely followed by the AEON 2. Both render micro-detail fairly well, but the Beyerdynamic pulls ahead in soundstage width and depth, if only by a little.

If it's up to me, and I have a big chunk of spare change for headphones, I'll go for the T5p (2nd Gen), then the WP900; I'll probably skip the AEON 2 Closed.

To put things into perspective, I already have the T5p (2nd Gen), and I am thinking of buying the WP900 to serve as a portable headphone.

Excellent overview, as ever.

I would say the WP900 is actually is slightly brighter than the T5P 2nd gen. I always found the T5P quite smooth in the top end.

Very helpful. I'm a fan of the Msr7b, though I would prefer a little more low end, with a little better quality. I also had to slightly tone down the upper mids - 2&4 K. I'll take a bit more fun and musical over neutral / analytical, and super resolving. That being said, I don't want it to be on the complete opposite of neutral, just a little bit with some added warmth. The T5p 2nd seems like a strong fit. I really only listen to glam metal, Sleez rock... 80s big hair stuff, etc. I also listen to more mellow rock from the 70s and 80s. My 4 currently owned favorites are the 58X, Msr7b, H6, and 99 Classics - in no particular order. I'm after the next step down the rabbit hole. Which of these 3 headphones would you choose 1st for my genres?

Can anyone compare these WP900s to the 99 classics?

I think a closer, entry audiophile level headphone for comparison, would be the Msr7b. I love my Classics, but I think we're dealing with 2 different animals here - other than the wooden cups of course.
