Any impressions, compared to other full size closed cans?

Brief report: detailed, comfortable, clear highs, gorgeous midrange, fast bass. Great portable closed headphone. I run mine balanced from my Sony NW-WM1A.

Seems like it is a continuation of the sound signature of my old ES portables from Japan. But those are on-ear.

I used to own these AT cans:
Audio-Technica ATH-AD2000
Audio-Technica ATH-ESW9
Audio-Technica ATH-EW9
Audio-Technica ATH-W100
Audio-Technica ATH-W1000

In many ways, these remind me of the ESW-9. But they're far, far more comfortable and are better at the top and bottom end.

I had the ESW9, W1000X and W3000ANV.
9 was uncomfortable and I could not get a proper seal with the other two.

I'm using Fostex TH900 now.
Having said that, still a big fan of AT wood series.

I find that this particular headphone WP900 is a step away from their current line.
It is the first of its kind and is very comfortable.

Had a chance to hear it once. I find the bass particular interesting.

They come with a bag, which you can see the edge of in the photo below, not a hard shell case. But I had a GoCase that fits them perfectly (although I have to put something between the earpieces so they don't touch). I have an AT upgraded balanced cable that fits in that little compartment .

The new AT cans are all coming with their proprietary A2DC connectors. It's difficult to find custom cable makers who carry that connector. AT does offer several cables with various source connectors. The WP-900 comes with two vinyl-clad thin cables, one with a 3.5mm plug and the other with a 4.4mm balanced Pentaconn connector. I bought a different AT balanced cable, OCC wire, thicker, and with a fabric wrap.

The AT USA website's accessory page shows the cables they sell separately: https://www.audio-technica.com/cgi-...l?product_line=Headphone Accessories&lang=eng

The more I listen to these, the more I like them.

No idea, because that's not what I listen to. But the Clears are wonderful with everything (and twice the price of the WP900, plus not really portable).

I decided to give the WP900 a go and ordered, actually the Clears are on special for same price as WP900 here in Straya, but still couldn't resist the woody allure of the AT's!

The same price?!?! Either the ATs are overpriced significantly or the Focal are a steal. In the US, the Focal are about $1200-1500 and the ATs are about $650. The ATs are quite good closed portables, IMHO, but the Focal are superb open headphones only exceeded by a few much more expensive cans.

Yep the Clears are 50% off here, so it's a bit painful buying the WP900 at full price.
