Audio-Technica ATH-W2022 - 60th Anniversary Headphone

I paid retail for my L5000 in April 2019 in the US. At that point, they had been out for a few months: availability was low in Japan and some other countries, but I didn't feel like I needed to rush my order in the US. I'd say the L5000 were fairly reasonably obtainable for about 6 months or so after release.

As for the W2022... if they were $5,000 and limited to 100 units, they'd probably sell out almost instantly. We'll see how long they last at $9,000.
Will u go for it? I hope u do!

Well, I wanted pair to go with my ath3000anv but that price. Way too high. Specially without listening first.

I’m a relatively new AT woody fan, stemming from the W3000ANV, so I was excited for a brief moment. Lol

I don't doubt the quality of the workmanship but personally I'm not a fan of the design.

Hmm not sure abiut the stock image, I do think it would look better on hands/ not pictures out of studio lighting, that make em look so digital-looking.
I think they intend to make artworks out of the cups now, interesting way to go through it, wish they would release a stock wood form without them for us mortals tho.
That headband and earpads looks cozy, not sure about it having a portable headband design and not the ADX/ AWKT/ AWAS one.
If it's portable, why XLR for the balanced cable tho?

Now that looks better already

I glanced at the gallery thumbnails first when I opened the thread and honestly thought they were hamburger buns.

Very hard to find nice pics on these. This pic makes it look exotic and beautiful.

From the website it stated its following W10VTG sound signature. I hope this is true 🙏

"just like our first wooden headphones, the ATH-W10VTG – to deliver pure tone quality with natural reverberation."

Not a fan of suede pads and headband. Not going to be very durable and hard to keep clean and looking nice.

Totally agree. The whole item seems impractical.

Wooden cups, scratches and dents
Paint, peeled and scratch
Suede earpads, cat hair, lint and smelly

$9000 <- really.... smh. They just convinced hifiman to released their next item at 12k.

It seems like a headphone art piece than actual listening.

Hopefully, AT has that woodie sound but more refine and modern and so forth. I also, doubt it be close to 90% of the curve... owell.
