I really hate EQ to be honest so that's a no go.

I recommend Monoprice cables. They'll do whatever you want with their quantum field technology. It's like The Secret and through the power of the belief you'll hear that extra treble.
 
Otherwise use EQ like audio engineers do all the time. It's free as well which I'm sure some people will think is a negative.

Even better, I found that if I lightly hold my hand in the right 2.5mm connector it really enhances treble extension and detail. Try it out! If it doesn't work for you then I guess it just works for me and my own personal listening

O2 powers the r70x fine. I find it does scale with better equipment, but I enjoy my r70x out of my o2 just fine. It's a great little amp.

Are the connectors on the R70X 2.5mm and use the same locking mechanism as the Senn 518/558/598? Would any 2.5mm connector work as well and the locking is just added security?

I'm thinking it a raised 2.5mm connector should also work, they sockets looked recessed a bit

400i cables don't work as the 2.5mm connects are indeed recessed.

I think they are. But the plastic or whatever composite it is, seems durable. If I recall correctly the 3D wings attachment has visible screws, so it looks like they can be easily replaced if necessary.

The 3d wings of r70x are made of plastic and they feel quite durable. So you don`t have to worry about their build quality. They won`t break, unless you try to break it.

Wish I had enough money for this pair + good amp as my current budget is just enough for the headphones + E10K amp. Them being 470ohm I am sure the poor E10K cant run them well.
 
Am I wrong though?
 
I guess I will have to go with AKG 712 + E10K
