It's ok if the treble is lightly sibilant ,thanks

You're welcome!

The lower treble has a peak of 2db I believe, but I am probably sensitive to this treble region.

Now, the upper mid treble has me confused. I like it since it isn't sibilant, but at the same time, it sounds unnatural, but I can't put my finger on it just yet until I get the test tracks.

The bass has enough quantity for a consumer looking for balanced sound. If he or she requires basshead quantity, then please don't purchase this headphone.

The mids are fantastic, slightly forwarded by 2 db.

What do you mean about un-natural ?

and as @vlenbo mentioned, I would like him to provide a track he found to be "un-natural" so others can chime in with their impressions.  It's always a matter of a personal opinion

Then I guess Audio technica did not EFF up for once.

Good on them!

Now if only I didn't wince... :frowning2:

Do you actually enjoy the sound you hear?

Yes Sir!

Otherwise, how can we avoid bias in such a subjective forum?

I'll provide my own tracks after we receive his tracks, as I need to verify that he's hearing what I'm hearing.

my audition of the MSR7 was more enjoyable than my first audition of the Z7..:p
I am not a fan of fullsized AT cans...(sold 3 previous models...)
surprised myself that this is probably the first big AT can i LIKE enuf to consider buying.
problem :
My YamahaMT220 has a similar sound...maybe airier.
And the Urbanite ON EAR stole my heart a day earlier..
so i need time to $$sort this out ..
the goodnews is the Z7 is off my buying list for now.. at 3 to 4times the price.

some of the tracks used:

Nina - Through the Fire
Pitbull & Neyo - Time of our Lives
The Script - Nothing
A Perfect Circle - 3 Libras
Human Nature - Don't Say Goodbye
Human Nature - Wishes

Some of the high pitched tracks reveal the peaky treble and thin.

agreed. The sound difference between 1A and 1R doesn't worth that 100 bucks

. But if 1A could cut $50 more (just like what sony will always do), it's gonna be a hard choice between msr7 and mdr 1A

So Nina's song at 2:43 has a moment of unnatural treble play?

I hear the weirdest splashing sound through the msr7 on that specific time.

because at the prominent treble play at 3:47 and later doesn't sound unnatural to me.

Pitbull and Neyo's song - the treble I hear after the intro on the right side of the soundstage has the weirdest splashy treble again.

Btw, I don't hear peaky treble. It's the vocals that bother me.

The Script's nothing has nary a peaky treble, but at 2:48, there is that unnatural splash I hear again...

Sounds tinny, and I hate it.

It's about as far as I go.
