Now initially I wasn’t as excited about the M50x because the initial reviews suggested that it would not be that much different from the M50.
But recently Tyll over at Innerfidelity did a review of the M50X and he found with his measurements and his own listening that they have improved the sound.
Some of the tolerance, some of the actual technical aspects of the sound with the M50x.

I think i am going for the black m50xs guys.... I always wanted to try the beyers, specially the 32 and 80 ohm versions but from all ive read the m50x seems to be a saffer choice for all genres and also as a more friendly sensitivity so my ipad air and note 4 will be enough to power them.... Also i cant find the dt770 for less than 150 euros nowadays while the m50x costs 125 on amazon.es

Thinking of selling my amperiors or hd25s to fund my purchase....

What are the main differences between the m50x and the dt770 and most importantly what changes on the 250 vs 80ohm dt770?

I was always decided to buy the 80 ohm dt770 but now i have a great deal pending for a 250 ohm one.... 90 euros, mint condition and with invoice (still one year warranty left).

Wich really cheap portable amps would be enough to drive the 250 dt770?

Cheers guys....

The biggest difference I had with the M50 vs the DT770 is that the 770s have velour pads where the M50s have pleather.

The pleather pads felt hot on my ears as I was testing them out so for me it was a no brainer and I went with the 770 (80 Ohm).

From what I have read, the main difference between the 80 and 250 Ohm versions is that the sound is more flat on the 250 Ohm. Bass is not as exaggerated and mid is not as recessed. Not flat, by any means, but not as pronounced as the 80 Ohm version.

For an amp, I've seen people get by with a FiiO E17 (or E18, as you have an Android phone) and be just fine. Other options would be the Schiit Fulla, Audioquest Dragonfly, and up from there (Magni/Modi, O2+ODAC, etc).

This might help you:

http://www.head-fi.org/t/646368/beyerdynamic-dt-770-pro-250-ohm-32-ohm-or-80-ohms

I wouldn't use an E6 with the DT770s, though it might work. It wouldn't provide enough juice to be really happy with the headphones (I have one, but I don't use it anymore).

Given the choice, I'd go with the E17 or E18 over the E11 for 2 reasons:

1) Cheaper. According to Amazon, the E17 is ~$20 cheaper than the E11, and the E18 is about the same price.

2) The E17/E18 has a DAC where the E11 is just an amp. That means in addition to using it with your phone/iPad just as an Amp, you could get a USB OTG cable (for your phone) or the FiiO cable (plus an adapter if you have a Lightning connection) for your iPad and bypass the internal Amp/DAC entirely.

You could also use it with your computer via USB.
