Audio-Technica ATH-M50x or Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO

DT770s have a v-shaped response. So if you thought the M50s were "too scoped in the mids," I would rule the DT770s out.

Is is that bad? Whats confusing is that i read mixed reviews.... some say the m50's have more scooped mids that the dt770's, others say the opposite.... Without eve trying a beyer its hard to know what is right.... ;(

I basically like the sound (as i said earlier) of the hd25's, over ear momentums and the cheap philips she3590.... i would like to have the sound sig of one of these in a over ear headphone.... the hd25 with the m50 bass would be an amazing combo in a over ear for example.... :)

Check out the measurements:

Whether or not the DT770s are more scooped or not is probably mostly a personal perspective.

Wich has more forward vocals? I thought they were a bit recessed on the m50. Thats why i liked the hd25 more. Also i thought the highs on the m50 were a bit plasticky and unnatural.

If the dt770 80 ohm is a not much bassier and apacious hd25 i am in.... ☺

DT770 has a pretty neutral/natural sound. I've never heard the HD25, so I won't be able to comment on it.

The DT770 is typically not described as a neutral phone. Check out the measurements I put up a few posts back. They have a good bit of midbass and subbass emphasis over what is generally considered to be neutral.

I'm mainly going off of what I felt/feel about the DT770. I felt as if the M50x is a bit more bass oriented than the DT770. I should include that I'm saying this against the M50x, not at the DT770 itself.

These are the successor to what I called the best headphones under 200 dollars period so these are the Audio Technica ATH-M50X so in case you’re unfamiliar the m50 is have been among the highest rated pairs of headphones out there and continually come down in price actually from north of 200 bucks all the way down to less than 120 US dollars on Amazon.

So the big question now here with the m50X is how are these different from the and m50 and is that different worth it, as a worth it because the m50X actually a little bit higher price now they come in at 189 bucks brand new still under 200 dollars but they definitely cost a little more.

I have M50x (with C&C BH2)  and I was looking for new headphones and I thought DT770 was a good option (need MORE bass) ...

Now I'm not sure if DT770 is a good choice...

Audio-Technica ATH-M50X  : These headphones are very uncomfortable.Weight of the band, make your head ached. To much ambient noise..be careful with the different colors there are not accurate.

Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro, 32 ohms  ( 175.63 )
                        DT-770 Pro, 250 ohms  ( 176.65 )
                     *  DT-770 Pro, 80  ohms  ( 240.50 )  *  Great indoor headphones.Have bass ports (holes) be careful,if wind blows across these holes make a considerable noise inside the phones.

Are you would like one of the best...?...well..SONY MDR-Z7 (bass is enhanced) *MADE IN JAPAN* ($509.99)
These are serious phones.
