Audio Technica ATH-IM70: A Bold New Direction
Jan 21, 2014 at 9:25 AM Post #256 of 1,104
Just received my IM70...

These, to be honest, simply "awesome, amazing, incredible, marvelous, extraordinary, outstanding, remarkable, mind-blowing,...."

IMHO, Westone 3 (and perhaps the "4"), XBA series, IE8/80 are nothing compare to these little cutie.

Simply screw* amazing

I think he was referring to the IM70...

Which are also better. More accurate in the mid-range, better quality bass, almost an even spectrum with a slight mid-forward response.

The Piston Gold are better than the IM70?

I don't own the Piston's*, but Eric says no. I was referring to the IM70 vs CKS77. The IM70 are better.

!

I suppose than that since the IM50 are similar to the IM70,the IM50 are better than the Piston' s, right?

Hi guys, can anyone that have experience with both the FXT90 and IM50/70 make a comparison of them. Might pick up a pair if the different is significant. Thanks in advance.

I'm also interested in this comparison. Anyone?

The IM70 is a deeper, fuller, and clear sound over the FXT90. Better bass, mids and highs. Not by a little, but it's clearly better. I use to be a JVC fanboy and hated the house sound of AT, but the CKN70, CKS1000, and now, the IM70 have changed all of that for me. The CKS1000 and the IM70, however, are compatible. Don't ask me which one is better because it goes back and force with me. So what does that mean? I means that clearly the IM70 is the better value.

And I don't know why there is so much Piston talk on this thread. Yes, the Piston is a very good under-$30 iem (beating out some $100 earphones), but it doesn't come close to beating the IM70.

Just got these, and found that decored Shure Olives inserted backwards (tapered end facing away from your ear canal) on the nozzles don't affect the sound signature much (read: mids and highs still clear as glass) while still providing more isolation.

Isolation with the decored and reversed Shure Olives is probably slightly less than Shure's IEMs' isolation. Comfort is average.

Really love this pair, much more than the Shure SE215s and SE315s that I've had before! Cable is a little shorter than what I'm used to with the Shures but the cable quality is pretty nice the largeness of the drivers don't bother you as much as you think they would (I have really tiny ears, too).

Thanks for the thoughts ericp10, appreciate it.

To those that own or have heard both the IM50/70, I would really appreciate you can post a comparison between them. Thanks in advance.

Anyone with a DN-1000 to make a little comparison?

yes. The DN-1000 is one HELL of an awesome IEM, that when plugged into a warm sounding DAP, with a FiiO E7 amp, brings you multiple eargasms. Best $200 IEM.
