And according to the Audio Technica website, it is not included. Only the E70 comes with them. So that information is wrong :x i'm sorry, I will try to know if the nozzle on the E70 is the same size as the E40.

Does it come with a case tho? Comply T500 does not fit my ear that good... too big. really hoped they give all three size of it.

precisly why Im curious why @thepooh
dont think it is recessed

If you are comparing the T20 with mid centric iems, I would say yes it is recessed but within the whole $200 crowd I would say neutral but surely not for a vocal head. Overall IMHO the sound is much more enjoyable than many iems I tried in this range.

But again not the signature I'm looking for

i think aurisonics rockets and re600 will do well in the range
Technical capabilities aside, I also don't find T20's mids to be recessed, neither when doing sine sweeps nor when actually listening to music. On the other hand, the mighty upper bass along with the somewhat unevenly measuring treble could be the reason for that "recessed" perception.

that can be true but both @keanex and me found mids recessed!

in all honesty, rha is going for build > sound

I contacted Audio Technica via e-mail and they said the comply T-500 will work on the E40:

Your Question:
“Will the Comply T-500 foam tips work on these? Is the nozzle the same size as the E70?”

Answer:

“Indeed they will! The Comply tips can be purchased through our Parts department by contacting them at Parts@atus.com

The E40 is praised as the direct upgrade over the IM70, I suppose that the sound won't be ''thin'' and sibilant, I'm still waiting for my pair of E40 arriving from Soundprofessionals, I shall give a better impressions when comparing both.

The EX1 was sibilant on first usage, but within 10-15 hours of burn in + the proper tips for your ears, it won't be sibilant on warm daps but can still have some harshness on neutral to bright sources. I believe that 100 hrs + of burn in is necessary to get it right.

If you have 200 bucks to spend, you have better options ! I would suggest the RHA T20 as the best in this range (for sound and built quality), some runner ups :

a. Mee Electronics Pinnacle
b. Audio Technica IM02
c. Hifiman RE600
d. Aurisonics Rockets
e. Sleek Audio SA7
f. Venture Electronics Zen 2.0 (if you like earbuds)
g. Audio Technica CKR9LTD

Now it's up to you :o2smile:

I think i would take the IM02 out of the equation, it sounds a bit more analytical and can sound boring after awhile.

I would like to consider the rockets, CKR9ltd (although i like the 10s).

The pinnacle is good for money, but some report of peaking highs/treble.

I think you can give the musicmaker TK12/TK13 a chance as its been getting raving reviews

I was just at jaben yesterday.. gave the e40s a go. Sounds a bit like the ckr10s that i like but the fit was a bit fiddly. Well its more comfortable than the IM50/70

I recently compared the T20s (treble filter) to my CKR-9s and find them about the same in treble but the treble of the CKR-9s are noticeably less grainy, clearer, more detailed ,have slightly better instrument separation and is airier . The T20s are more sibilant too. The CKR-9s is more intimate, fuller and richer in the midrange . The bass of the CKR-9s is tighter , deeper and has more rumble. Soundstage is pretty similar in width but the T20 seems to have deeper soundstage.

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.
