That cable I have for 2 years I think. I just changed mmcx to a2dc today myself.
 
 The cable does not look very sexy but sounds awesome! 2.5 mm TRRS balanced.

So my Shure215 died and need a replacement, feel like trying something new.
 
I kind of like the Shure215, but would like something with a bit more resolution while maintaining the bass kick.
 
I am thinking ATH E-40, E-50 or CKR 9. They are not too far apart price wise, what should I pick?

If you can spend around $170, I will suggest go with LZ-A4 instead. They are offering discounts as well on Aliexpress.

Troopa, if you enjoy the bass of SE215, e50 might dissapoint you with the amount of bass it has. I think e40 might be a better choice.

A few days ago , i had a chance to try the e40 and here are some my thoughts :
it's a little big but i still can wear it comfortably (for 15-20 mins) , the nozzle angle is kind of weird that i thought it might hurt the ear canal but it's not so no problem with the fit and comfort . With stock tips
the sound is enjoyable (easy to listen to) , the bass is just right for my ears and i think it's mid-focused or has emphasis on the mid (maybe) , the singers alway have their space to show (notice a little reverb on the vocals) ...
i need to listen more to correct my impressions , maybe i will get one later

I used to think the cable thing was BS till today and I was wrong. I got the customized cable for E70, with 4N copper and silver(10 thread copper and 5 thread silver mixed, not plated). The bass is tighten up, smoother. The vocal separation is better.

Now, I am wondering how the ATH official upgrade cable sounds? Anyone tried?

Found E70 scale up with the cable? Now how do you feel about E70 vs LS200 under the same cable?

Well, it did scale up last time with the Black Caviar cable - now it is just more or less at the same level, a little bit brighter sounding I think.
I still like the LS200 but they sound flat in comparison. And yes, the bass is just great on the E70.)

I'm waiting for a portable amp to pair it with Vantam, so the E70 will have all chances to become my number 1 )

Is that a tube amp? I'm attempting to get a fostex portable tube.

I guess at some point the cable upgrade will have diminished return.

Thanks. I bought it and try out spiral dot but seem quite easy to fit it in. WIll there be any leak sound ? With Spiral Dot Bass more fuller but seem cover up the high... How does spinfit perform with E40 ?Anyone ?
