Yah, the deteriorating A900 pads was one of the reasons I never got a pair...
Dang. Now I want one of these...
Sigh. Never ends...

i definately prefer this color than the blue a900's that i have, but... i wouldnt fork over the xtra money for these. i love my a900's sound signature rite now especially with the bluetac mod, i doubt the sound signature is going to be a big difference(thats why their still a900's). the pads tho are a big plus, after seeing these i am now ordering a pair of a1000 replacement pads, the pads just look like a much higher quality than the stock a900 pads.

For $329, that could get me a Senn 650. Do you guys know if this A900LTD is in the same class? It certainly looks nice.
edit: A900LTD or K701 ?

That would be great if it were true.

I have neither of them, but the ath-a900 is considered to be one of the best closed cans available. but since it is a closed can, it will always lack a few things the (higher end) open cans provide.
I would recommend open cans, if there is no particular reason to have a pair of closed cans...

What's the basis of this statement? I'd rather have a L3000 than HD650.
Best regards,

same here
the closed cans I heard, had this closed cans soundsignature. I probably can't explain it, but it just did not sound as good ad my open cans did. They sounded great, but I always knew I was listening to headphones, which does not happend to me when listening to open cans, I can totally concentrate and enjoy the music. HD650, DT 880, AKG K701 (havent heard them yet) mostly provide a wider/more open soundstage.
and if I take a look around, most people seem to prefer open cans.
I am not sure if the things stated above really apply to the ath-a900(ltr) or the l3000, since they are some really high end cans and I never heard them before.
I will get myself a pair of the ath-a900ltr

I thought there was something about new drivers. Thanks for clarifying, Z. Dang! These things could be a steal if we're talkin L3000 drivers in a 300 dolla can. A900 LTD欲しい!!!

if they are L3000 drivers, I'll buy 7 and have a pair of headphones for each day of the week.

It's not a woody. Don't want to go down this road. But, on the other hand.

So these phones are black plastic with nicer pads and top-of-the-line drivers for $330? IN that case, maybe it's preferable to pay a few 100 $$ more and get the W5000's.
