Yes I doDo you prefer the Clairs over the z1rs?

Everyone has different preferences with this as well. I’m perfectly happy with the Clairvoyance with any genre of music (which is exactly what I wanted from it), but there are other IEMs that I prefer for classical music and vocal music, if that is predominantly what I listen to. Some people prefer to get the best single IEM that they can afford. Others prefer to have multiple less expensive specialists. I think this is where some of the budget gems really show their worth. For instance, if I really liked the u12t or another all-BA IEM as my TOTL all-around IEM, something like the KBEAR KS1, BL03, KZ ZAX, or KZ DQ6 would be amazing for a well rounded IEM with potent DD bass.It doesn't have to be about music, though. You can't keep inventing new genres of music(as does happen), and create an artificial need for a headphone with a tuning that specifically matches that new genre. Why not simply use a headphone that can accurately produce all sounds extremely well, catering to no genre, and call it a day? That's what I want - a high-end all-arounder(like HE-6, LCD-3, 1266, Clair). There's also movies, games, podcasts, YouTube, etc. I don't really want to switch between 9 IEMs, for each genre.
Well that's true if you compare iems to headphones. As for someone who enjoys big soundstage, I found iems just can't compete with open back headphones for the soundstage regardless of price. The resolution and separation could be better on the iems tho.I find its lesser a difference among IEMs. I just think when it comes to headphones there are more differences in sound characteristic. I have a Sundara that is netural flat sound and it sounded extremely different when i compare to HD650 to Beyer DT880/DT990 and if i change the amp and dac, they sounded even more different. Thats why my last comment was i find most IEMs to a certain price point does not sound that much a difference except for their airiness, soundstage and separation, the resolution differences is minimum.
What's the best you've heard so far? I'm pretty happy with how YBF, Legacy 3 and FD5 sound in games. For headphones, my tops would be: HD660, Erupt, AD900X(huge, but not so accurate). FD5 is quite impressive, spatially.big soundstage, I found iems just can't compete with open back
Exactly, there are things couldn't be coexist on a single set. If you want strong bass impact, you not gonna get crystal clear high. If you want a big soundstage, you not gonna get upclose sweet vocal, etc.Everyone has different preferences with this as well. Back in my day, we were only allowed to swap out ONE set of speakers per day..! I dunno how you guys do it I would just use the +/- bass button, for the first problem.Exactly, there are things couldn't be coexist on a single set. It's really hard to describe what's the best. If you talking about the soundstage, I like Sennheiser better, hd800 for the headphones and ie800 for the iems. The ie800 is a very controversial iem tho, but I do like it quite a bit just because of its unique soundstage. What's the best you've heard so far? So you don't find them artificially/unnaturally large sounding..? That was my issue with K701 and X2. It sounded like there was a 10 foot radius of dead space to the closest sound. I haven't heard HD800 yet, still dreaming about it lol. Sundara sounds very spacious, but unnaturally thin for my liking.hd800
Yeah that's true but like I said everyone has their own taste. I won't say HD800 is thin and light like K701 but I generally do like some colored and exaggerated sound. With that said I actually prefer K701 over Hd800 for female vocals and ACG songs lol.So you don't find them artificially/unnaturally large sounding..? That was my issue with K701 and X2. True about every headphone, right? I think I prefer accuracy over distortion warmth for my source, so far, as far as affordable amps go. I'll have a Mojo to try out soon, with my D50s+ATOM currently. Hoping to hear a difference lolit will sound different with different Dac and amp
To my, for best measurement to get uncoloured and clear music reproduction. A90/D90 takes the cake here. I have a feeling Mojo does color the sound a fair bit. Try Sundara/Ananda with A90/A90 combi and i believe you will love it much.True about every headphone, right? You're probably right about that, heh. It seems details are not as good as the half-priced AAA 789, but bass is more powerful. We'll see! I'd love to try the A90/D90.I have a feeling Mojo does color the sound
