Hello everyone

I just brought a used NFB 10se and every sound very good with my HE-500.  However I'm having a problem with the setting.  I have no problem listening to 24/48 but once i switches to the 24/96 everything just go silent.( while foobar is still playing on the computer).  My set up is Laptop --> (USB) --> NFB 10se -->(balanced cable)--> HE-500.  I tried 16/44 flac music and also 24/96 flac files none work.  Is there a config that i need to change in order to play at 24/96?  Also does the NFB 10se do upsample?  Thanks you

try check your filter setting

I think I can help, but I'm a little confused. Are you saying that when you set your filter on the nfb10 to 24/96 it doesnt work?  It sounds like it could be a setting on your laptop that isn't actually outputting 24/96.

You said that 24/48 works, but then later you said 16/44 flac and 24/96 flac works. Can you specify where you are setting the 16/44 and 24/96, on the nfb or on the laptop, or in foobar?

He should be fine even if he's set his audio options to output in less than 24/96. If you're using the TE7022, everything should downsample to whatever is set in the Windows Audio option.

On the TE8022, you have to set the file resolution from the Audio-gd USB Audio Device ACPL app, but higher res files will still play even a lower resolution is chosen. He probably has filters 7, 8, or 9 selected on the NFB-10 itself, which only supports 16/48.

thanks you for everyone's input,  silly me, it was the filter setting, i didn't know filter1-3 is 24/192, filter 4-6 is 24/96, and finally filter 7-9 is 24/48. Thanks you everyone again for the replies.  However i have one more question about NFB-10se.  My computer only have USB out so i'm thinking if i should get a audio-gd DI-DSP or DI-V2 so i can do coax into the NFB10se?  What kind of benefits will i get from this?  Also which one is better in my case?  Is there other better options? m2tech hiface2 or evo,  MF v-link 192 or musiland Monitor 01 USD?   Funny thing i e-mail King-wa asking the same question twice but i didnt' get a answer for it.( this is the only email that he didn't reply, he is great with my others email but not on this topic ).

I had a hunch that might have been your issue :)

The question you ask about using coax VS usb is a can of worms. I believe most comments have been that it doesn't make a difference, or that the coax is slightly better. I would suggest in either case the improvement is so small is really won't matter all that much.

hey guys

I don't know if this is normal, when i set 24/96 (USB) only even number volume works, when the volume is odd numbers it goes silent.  Do any of u guys ever have this problem?  If i switch it to 24/48 all number volume works.

Thanks elwappo99 So what do u think is the next step up for this set up? Should i get a better USB? or better power supply? I'm not really looking to buy right away, but just something to research about.

I really don't think there is a 'step up' for this unit. Maybe a power conditioner, but that would be all. I think you just have to sit back and listen

That's a strange issue. I'd email Kingwa

Update:
The newly updated driver for the "TE8802" or dot2 variant of the NFB10 is now working the latest Foobar2k asio.

Thanks for update spamaerie. I just received my 10.2 last week and tested it in win7x64. It's working with out any issues.

For those using OSX, I can recommend the latest drivers and fidelia. The only caveat is that fidelia doesn't allow you to change the buffer. Not sure what the default is set to but I didn't hear jitters when playing 24/192 flacs through the TE8802 chip (CPU utilization was at around 28-30% on an i7 when buffering).

Hi all,

I would appreciate your help. I'm getting ready to list my NFB10-WM in the for sale forums, but am not sure how much to list it for. My version is the initial version that came out for $780 that I purchased in May of last year. I know a while ago they switched to a cheaper version based on motherboards that cold be mass assembled etc. I'm not sure how the current version will affect the resale price of my unit, so I would appreciate any tips.

I'll also link the page with the details and pics of the version I have. I also have pics in my profile, but my iPad won't let me post them.

Thanks,
Dave
