Audio GD New NOS 7 2016 Edition Impression Thread

Don't know if it is going to be of any use for you, but I did both same upgrades on my Ref 5 at the same time (Amanero, NOS).

You should know this then. In the guide kingwa said "take off dsp module and broken the two pins of SCK" did you just cut them off?

Yesterday, I finally got time to swap the 98.304MHz XO of my NOS11 to Abracon's ABLNO Ultra Low Phase Noise XO, initial impression is clearer mid-high, better 3D image and focus, though not a dramatic change, but for the price of $23 currently at Mouser, I still recommend everyone give it a try.

Noup, I ended up by unsoldering and isolating both pins, same results without breaking anything.

I hate desoldering :) but will give it a shot

Hi, I asked audio gd to send me the firmware upgrade file (DAC19 - NOS19) and received this archive. NOS modify.rar
Is this correct please and output_file.jic included?
Or did you receive the jic file directly from Kingwa? Thank you.

For owner of Singxer F-1, this might be interesting; In the first few hours while burn-in NOS-11, F-1 made a big improvement over the built-in Amanero, with more burn-in time the advantage gradually diminish; now the NOS-11 has way pass 600 hrs, the two are virtually indistinguishable - even using I2S for F-1. This is not so surprising, since Async/FIFO architecture in NOS-11 is supposed to be more immune to clock jitter. So the last trump left of F-1 is galvanic isolation, to fully take advantage of it I first remove the isolation/switching 5V power (Mornsun B0505S) which will generate 100mV noise in the isolation section, then use NOS-11's 3.6V (unplug Amanero from socket) to drive the isolation section. To make sure 3.6V is high enough, the generic 3.3V LDO is replaced by ADP150 (9uV rms); along the way I also replace the same generic 3.3V LDO for XMOS;

Well, the result - improved micro-dynamics!

Hi Bombik, in my case the NOS modify.rar file didn't included de output_file.jic, you have to ask Kingwa for it and he will send it via mail.

Hope this helps.

So I am downloading/will instal altera quartus 12.1 directly from altera website.
Then I will kindly ask Kingwa to send the output_file.jic alone.

I assume I have everything to perform firmware update? Am I correct please?
