Listening to my newest addition, a DI-20:
I2S wins a simply more clarity to our soundstage's presentation award, and finally gives us a trouble-free original presentation, but before that, coax shoves all your data through a big fat same $ single pipeline. Returning to coax, also $20, my space got really messy from those 3 lines sharing, but the data line got the heft from diameter it will always appreciate. The other 3 lines are getting packed into that same 1, so goodbye that new 4 mini-cable offer, albeit with it's original presentation and soundstage simply intact award, but for now coax, for the required meat on it's body. Max $ on the data line's pipe is what some users would prefer, although a 2nd 3-smaller-cables addition could be our best 4-line I2S transmission option.
Please standardize a 3-lines AES cable connection + a single coax cable for the data line I2S solution, with it's big fat pipeline, VS that tiny little hdmi crap I2S cable choice.
Back to currently, my music's meat is full of gaps, because it shared it's bandwidth with 3 other lines-worth of other data. It's not present in the HDMI cable.
Sony and Phillips did you a favour, letting the body have more underlying existence, this way. Engineers, please un-congest me by adding a 3-line cable for the 2nd-4th most important factors. For me, HDMI loses all of it's data's body, before correcting my new mess in the first place after that, so HDMI<Coax.

Q: What does the ACSS BNC output connection on my DI-20 do differently than standard SP\DIF, and what do I need to receive it properly? Don't tell me it works on normal RCA coax inputs, too... No, I'm never that lucky.
Attention audio engineers: HDMI wins the correct original presentation, but after that, a single big fat coax cable feeding the serial data line gives the DAC the required body-slamming all along factor. Please win the connection war by separating the other 3 signal lines onto a new use for standard XLR connections, for our final custom(?) AND ultimate dedicated I2S connections. Then we could hear this same phat body version perfectly uninterrupted and unshared, in it's un-tampered with original reference presentation. Except with a bad-ass cable feeding our audio's data, while the 2 clock timing lines still won't need more than simple hdmi girth, strictly purity, same as everyone always, but the XLR camp is already as serious as can be, for the 3-wire transmissions.

The ACSS (current based signal) connects to an Audio GD pre amp without converting the signal to the normal rca (voltage based signal) format. An Audio GD pre amp will take this current based signal and amplifies it before sending the signal to the power amp. This saves 2 conversaions in the process and is able to provide a much better quality signal for the power amp. Most AGD amplifications are done in current based format. If you have an AGD pre amp, highly recommend for you to try in out.

For your DAC nothing.

It is digital output S/PDIF signal, not voltage driven but current loop. Some other Audio GD DACs have compatible input, yours do not.

On the direct connection (no transformers in the path) ACSS output can generate proper voltage on the standard S/PDIF input port. However if the standard port gives no sound, I wouldn't bother trying.

Darn, no luck for my R8 then. NP, a good RCA is waiting for me. After my headspace gets messed up, my audio data weighs 10x as much, as lingering bass, but that signal is shared with these other 3 easier guys.
1-line BNC coax + a new 3-line XLR connection's job for an I2S cabling victory over all!!! The Serial Data line Transmits the actual audio data bits, and is the one that wants your full coaxial girth. The other 3 are fine on using up only a combined 50% of total cable-girth. The 2x clock lines probably need the least cable thickness, but all will improve with purity.

Hello , I need you help : I would like to update my di20he USB in order to recognize dsd signal under daphile ( Linux ) . Bow I have seen different update documents but I would like to be sure to use the right cable ( the one inside the original box ? ) and USB firmware . I also would like to try the three different firmware from audio gd . Can you please suggest how to proceed or give le some advices ? My di20he is connecter through a i2s cable to an Holo spring : I love this combo !
