A few reactions from a reddit thread today…

“Heard them today, not for too long. Sounded pretty darn good for the price.
Can't compare vs sundara or xs never heard those”

“I got ears on today at an audio show. Very tempting, performed a lot better than I expected for the price point. Only had a few minutes in a crowded expo hall but take it for what it’s worth”

”I heard these at axpona and they sound like the lcd 2c, I’m planning on ordering a pair for myself”

I have a friend who attended the show and he said "If what I heard through the crowd noise was a semblance of what they're capable of, I think Audeze have a winner on their hands. I'm hesitant to say for sure because a noisy environment can hide issues, but what I heard sounded like it had potential to be awfully good for $400." That's a direct quote from the text he sent me.

He also said that they felt no heavier than something like his Sundaras and that he had no problems with clamp force.

Just to address a couple of questions that have come up:

1) Driver is not the same as Maxwell, nor MM-500. It is a new driver unique to MM-100.

2) The headphone is capable of balanced drive. We will provide pinout/cable configuration as we get closer to shipping.

Both good to hear. Thanks for the heads up! 👍😎

For those who haven't seen it yet, video about the MM-100, featuring an interview with Sankar. Makes me more interested to eventually hear these.

Dual entry with the option for single sided as well? The plot thickens....

Watched this and the confirmation in this thread about balanced drive has me very excited. Good times ahead.

Is it ?

In the video below (3:35) Audeze Rep. clearly states that the drivers are adapted from another headphone.

Will the balanced cable be using both cups or just one cup like the single-ended one?

I know it's early days, but this is an odd comparison. The LCD-2C is about the furthest thing from a mixing/monitoring headphone, which is what the MM-100 is supposed to be -- a direct descendant of the MM-500 and at least a cousin to the LCD-X.

The LCD-2C has rich, powerful bass, aggressive, forward mids, rolled-off treble and not a ton of technicality. I really enjoyed mine until I sold them to upgrade to the LCD-X 2021, but if the MM-100 is more of a LCD-2C clone (which I doubt), then my interest is dropping. If I wanted that sound again, I'd just buy a pair of LCD-2C used or new at the Black Friday price this November.

I know the LCD-2C is considerably heavier than the MM-100, but it's still lighter than the LCD-X 2021.

Eager to read more impressions, as I find the LCD-2C/MM-100 comp to be odd based on what it appears Audeze is trying to achieve with this headphone.
