Audeze LCD3 Initial Impression

I would never dream of using them portably.  Seems like about the least portable headphone one could imagine, outside of electrostats.  But it isn't hard to try them with the Stepdance.

I'm just pulling your leg, Skylab / Rob. Besides, according to my local time (for the record that is 03:15 AM) I'm allowed to be a bit happy on Jack D.. At least I'm honest. Sorry. It won't happen again. Being honest, that is... ;) See you all tomorrow. :)

All good man, I wasnt the least bit bothered.  I knew you were joking about.

No drinking this weekend for me though.  I am still squeegeeing my liver from the CanJam/RMAF last weekend ;)

Next year. Next year, I really would take the leap to attend a meet like CanJam 2012. Looking at Tyll's blog (aka InnerFidelity) I'm not sure if there is gonna be two such sessions or "just" one.

Traveling from Norway to the US is a bit overboard, but then the whole hobby is likewise.

Looking forward (actually) to your LCD-3 review. I'v read a lot of them, and what strikes me is that they are balanced. No equipment is pefect, and nothing is oposit. The truth is always somewhere in between, leaning to one of the sides.

I'v been fooolish / tough / premature (strikes whatever) to sign up on the LCD-3 preorder list today. Crap. This hobby is excersising my pay check.

Looking forward to your impressions Rob. Thanks for the photos!

Glad that I've got these on pre-order!

Of all my headphones, the LCD-2s get the most head time and anything better has got me pretty stoked.

Looking forward to it, Skylab. Especially interested to hear whether it retains the mid range creaminess of the Rev1. Agree with Jalo that Rev 1 may become classic for people who like that kind of sound. I will get the LCD3 anyways but it would be great hearing your impressions as a teaser before it arrives in Nov.

I'm going to attempt to run with them. <-Serious :D
I might have to duct tape them on my head incase they want to fall. I'll make sure to take a picture if I do!
CLAS will be in one butt pocket, Amp in the other, long interconnects going across my butt, taped ofcourse.

I really would use the LCD2/3 portably but they are open design so there is really not much point. That's why I ordered the Thunderpants.

+1! GG, clearly you are a fashion trend-setter. Or maverick

I will of course compare to the rev1 LCD-2 and the R10 as requested.

As for when the review will be posted, well, please consider that I just got them today and I make my comparisons level matched with an SPL meter, and I like to really get to know the headphone well.  So I would say I will try to have at least a significant portion of the review up in a week.

hello skylab, if possible, please compare the he6 as well. impressions of a large orchestral piece thru these high-end hps would be appreciated as well. thanks in advance.
