AUDEZE LCD XC

How the sound change with that cable? vs stock

My XC's with the stock cable were overly bright and the treble was just a distorted mess on some recordings. Clarity was awful at times. It was so bad, I was contemplating selling my headphones or having them checked out by Audeze to make sure they weren't faulty. With the 3C Cardas cable, everything fell into place. The XC's are still a bit bright at times but I'm OK with that. Clarity is now top notch. They've always had great bass. They sound like a flagship headphone now. They seem to continue to improve more and more. I'm probably at around 80 hours now. Possibly burn in or my ears have adjusted to them more.

oh wow. i don't saw the price of cardas cable. I am out. :disappointed_relieved:

I tested a little time the XC but i never get ''distorted'' on my listen experience. Maybe the problem is your stock cable. I have two custom cables for iem and they not make a upgrade, for me is only change in sound, and that change can improve the sound or not.
:o2smile:
edit: You tested the old cable again?

I have not tried the stock cable again. I got the sound I wanted form the Cardas and have never looked back. There was enough of an immediately improvement when I switched cables to know that the majority of the sound change is due to the cable, not burn in.

From audeze:
Here's some information on some of the changes our 2016 driver revision has brought to the table:

-Reduced diaphragm thickness: Reduces driving mass for greater diaphragm response.
-Higher compliance: Lowers resonance for improved low frequency extension and bass definition.
-Optimized magnetic circuit: Creates more uniform magnetic flux distribution for a more uniform driving force, smooths frequency response, lowers distortion, with greater resolution and improved imaging.
-Improved diaphragm tensioning: A new system delivers better performance and improved consistency for less variation between units.
-Improved internal damping: Better, more controlled bass and a smoother overall frequency response.
-New voicing: Smooths the midrange response

Now the xc is super smooth?. I don't like the smooth headphones :/. I like more the trasparency

Here is a topic about the Ursine Audio cables and a picture of the braided cable that I ordered.

Hi,

I've ordered a new pair of XC's. I've been using a Sony pha-3 with my t5p's. I think that dac/amp is underated but I'd like to know what anyone thinks of pairing it with the XC?

Over the past year I came to find that the T5P 2nd gen is lifeless. Dark and sterile. In fact even my old T1's seemed too analytical without much body to the sound.
Anyone go from a t5p to the XC?

I tested both headphones, but in my opinion, I don't agree with you, t5p 2nd is really clear and transparent, maybe is your source the problem (Pair-up?). I don't know.
You can read the reviews and you can see no one reviews said '' is dark headphone .. '' Wow, but the t5p don't need AMP. You need a good Dap?..., I don't know.

I own the t5p 2nd and iBasso dx200. That's really nice sound, technical i prefer t5p for highs-detail, soundstage and... transparent?(here is similar, i can't remember who is more transparent but is really similar). I like so much the t5p but XC is nice headphone too, if the money no is a problem I would probably buy both headphones, the xc is more fast and has a more body in the mids, more fun headphone but is good in details too.
Extract of review ( dx200 - t5p 2nd gen by Twister6, i am very agre with this )

''T5p2 (tesla drivers) – excellent expansion of sound with a holographic soundstage. A very balanced revealing sound signature. Bass has a great extension with a perfect balanced between textured sub-bass rumble and analog quality mid-bass punch (faster attack, slower decay). Lower mids are neutral-lean, while upper mids are very resolving, detailed, layered, and at the same time natural and non-harsh. Treble has a great definition, great sparkle, plenty of airiness and excellent extension.''

I certainly appreciate your opinion. The T5P thread has many people feeling the second generation cans are warmer than the original. Actually that's what beyerdynamic had in mind with the T1 second gen as well. Removing the siblance and adding more bass.
If you've owned either the original T1 or T5P or even T70... putting the T5P 2nd gen on feels way different.
It's subjective though. If you are coming from Denon headphones to the 2nd T5P then they would seem bright.
Even the new HD800s is a less transparent version of its predecessor.

I tested too the t5p 1st but... i really don't like it.
The t5p 2nd yes is a little warm, but only little! Never warm signiature, for me is more bight than warm.
I tested the t1 2nd a week ago, and i don't like it, much warm for me.
The pair up is really important to me, for example with my dx200 thr Hifiman x v2 sound really warm without highs. My friend have these headphone with ak320 and said to me " is more neutral than warm " well. Ahaha

Haven't heard much about Marantz in this thread. Anyone powering the XC's with HD-DAC1 or AMP1? Thoughts?
