Looking for a test pilot for a prototype red LCD-X planar pad suspension strap I have.
(Already got a tester confirmed for the black one yesterday).
Takes about 10 minutes to fit it and reversible.
Contact me by PM if you want to pick up one at cost price plus cheap airmail tracked shipping.

It is all relative. Silver and copper increase highs a little, and pure silver more so. So pure copper, compared to those, have a little less highs.

Hey Guys,

Thought I would drop in and share that I picked up a pair of X's last week. Admittedly I'm in the honeymoon phase right now, but the X's have floored me. Hard to imagine these not being end game. I've owned the LCD-2 three times and have always had a love / hate relationship with it. I had a pre-Fazor version that sounded great but the comfort was terrible. I've twice owned the Fazor version, and while the imaging and depth was spectacular, the bass never lived up to the hype imo.

Well the X's have solved all of these issues for me. It's funny, so many of the reviews / impressions mention that the X's are the most "neutral" Audeze can, but my pair have the Audeze sound that I have always dreamed of. The X's are just as warm tilted as either LCD-2F's I have owned. The bass is just incredible, with better impact and extension. It's almost visceral at times. The imaging and width is even better than the LCD-2F's, although I don't think the depth is quite as good. The mids are just as smooth if not more so, but they are a bit recessed compared to the LCD-2's.

I would still love to try the LCD-3's at some point, but it's hard to imagine that I would like them that much more than the X's. I've requested my frequency graph from Audeze and will post it here when I receive it...

tl;dr 10/10 AMAZING.

Welcome aboard!

Yeah I absolutely love these cans as well.

I've had a Sennheiser HD 420, 598, Denon AH-D1100, Philips Fidelio X1 and an AKG K712, but these cans are in a COMPLETELY different legue. Absolutely no contest at all!

However, I also wish I could try the LCD-3 some time. (F and pre-F)

Do you have a good amp & dac? It's very easilly driven and doesn't need much amplification, but some amps really make these babies sing!

I picked up the Sony HAP-S1 before Christmas and I have been very happy with it so far. It has a few features that I need in a headphone amp (optical input, remote control, basic EQ functions), so that is what initially drew my interest. The HAP-S1 has driven each headphone I have tried with it very well, including the LCD-X!

I don't know that one  myself, but cool that it works so well for you! :-)

Still, personally I think that a tube amp takes the sound a huge step further (but not everybody likes tube sound).

Congrats! I know the "flooring" of which you speak.

I'm surprised to hear you say you're not hearing much imaging depth...that was one of the things that stood out to me pretty early on. Have you watched any movies with them yet? If not, that might give you an even better of their imaging capabilities. Even just a film with dialogue will impress. At least it did me :)

Enjoy those beauties!!

PS: Listen to some dubstep/EDM with them and crank it up a bit...the low end will blow your mind

Thanks! Don't get me wrong the depth is awesome on the LCD-X, it's just not jumping out at me quite as much as with my LCD-2F. Haven't had a chance to try any movies yet though, so I'll do that...

Cool, I really think you'll be impressed.

I just looked up that Sony piece...very nice! I couldn't find any specs on the amp section, but love it as a music server...500gb drive is really nice too!

Like I said above, I need certain features on my headphone amp and the HAP-S1 is one of the few devices that has them all. I could not be happier with it so far. I actually think it is kind of underrated and has flown under the radar here at Head Fi...

There is a thread here on the forums with impressions, etc: http://www.head-fi.org/t/680611/new-sony-high-end-dsd-gear-including-a-usb-dac

This is an older post but references a review that I just found.

What a great review. For anyone that has not seen it, and is considering the LCD-X, you might want to take a look.
