Audeze LCD-X

How are the LCD-3F compared to the X when it comes to soundstage and airyness?
LCD-3F is more lush with maybe better midrange and little less bass punch?

For all intents and purposes, differences in soundstage are negligible. The Xs greater accuracy adds clarity at the expense of what many call musicality, giving a 'fake' sense of a wider stage. Placement is the same to my ears.

The bass is tighter/quicker on the X. Whether you deem that better or worse is simply preference. I enjoy music more with the 3F with my current setup, but that may change when run balanced through a Ragnarok/Hugo combo later this week.

I listen to alot of electronic music, so there's obviously good amounts of bass.
Dont you think LCD-X would be better for this genre?

I was listening to a friend's LCD-3C last night and doing some A/B with my LCD-X that I brought along. This just confirmed my earlier impression - the LCD-X has slightly stronger bass and a little less colouration in the mids. The mid range "creaminess" is still there, but is toned down compared to the 3.

It comes down to personal preference - either can be a great headphone - pick the one that best suits your tastes. I prefer the LCD-X, my buddy adores his LCD-3C (which he sought out over the LCD-3F to get even more of the Audeze sound).

I listen to a lot of electronic music, and reach for the 3F every time. More engaging.

There's no great accuracy the X has over the 3Fs..

Thanks for mentioning that, I had intended to expand upon it but got distracted by the missus.

By accuracy, I mean quickness/clarity. I'm no audio reviewer and am not sure of the 'correct' word to use. But the X is only very marginally faster than the 3F.

I found the 3F has pretty much all the benefits of the X, but with 'better' (euphoric) mids. The X felt emptier, in comparison. The 3F gives me goosebumps. Preference, of course.

Tony - I was using the 2.2c before, and find the 3Fs maintain plenty of the Audeze sound and engagement. Your friend should have auditioned the 3Fs, Fazor tech offers more articulated highs (and space) with no sacrifice to the 'house sound'.

He is very, very happy doing his thing with the 3C.

Interesting that one of the differences we picked up between the 3C and X was the better articulation in the highs on the X.

So they are basicly very similar, just 3F is more refined and musical, with a little slower bass and punch?

They're both refined, the X being more neutral. The bass is very similar, the X being a bit tighter.

I'm A/Bing using Infected Mushroom - Noon, as we speak :¬)

That's all that matters :¬)

Exactly how I feel about it too. 3C + WA22 and the fellow is in NIRVANA.

More power to him

Any particular tracks?

Setup in my sig. Ragnarok and Abyss AB-1266 arrive later this week for further testing.

Try Moderat - nr.22 for bass.
Jon Hopkins Asleep Versions album for extremly relaxing and beatiful music :D

Conductor with Audeze is like driving a ferrari in a city...
Audeze with something powerful like Mjolnir or Ragnarok for that matter, is like driving a ferrari pedal to the metal on a track.

Ive owned conductor myself, and it dident bring Audeze to their potential if you ask me.
But they woke alive with the mjolnir :D

:D

I *really* wish Woo Audio had a UK distributor. I'd love to hear the X/3F powered by the WA5.

If you have a WA5 I would suggest a modded HE6 from the K1K port might be a better option than anything from Audeze. Mine beats the LCD-X in just about every department (yes, it is that good).

[braces for impact from posting that in the LCD-X thread]

Just to be clear - I really like my LCD-X and have no regrets in buying it or keeping it, but it doesn't get much headtime compared to the WA5 + modded HE6 combination.
