Audeze LCD-X

So: What do you guys think about Audeze LCD X vs Audeze LCD 3 and 2?
Please don't mention dacs and amps.

I had the LCD-2 and it was very good.  However the x is at another level to me in detail.  I hear things now I just didn't pick up with other headphones.  The x is a keeper for me.

I've had months of listening to the LCD-X and LCD 3 (non-fazor). In terms of SQ there is virtually no aspect where I prefer the LCD-3 over the X. The X is an incredibly well-rounded can with the only reservations being weight and comfort, neither of which bother me.

I will need your recommendation on dac/amp to improve the bass quantity of the X. The quality is good enough but I need more in quantity.

Depending on your playback mechanism there's always EQ or tone controls.

With my new lampizator, the bass was off the charts and in your face with the stock tubes. I changed the rectifier tubes and bass was still big, but no longer in your face (bigger soundstage). Nice to be able to tailor sound via tubes. Btw, bass was never flabby, just huge.

Yup...imo, totally agreed the Abyss is far more exciting than the Sr009, period. The music is more engaging.

The abyss couldn't be named better. Although it's power hungry, it's quite easy to get decent music from it...unlike the he-6 and hd800.

One more thing, it's unbelievably comfortable once you get your own fitting right. The only drawback is $$$

I agree with JW and Shultzee, as well. I bought the LCD-2s last Fall and loved them. It was right around the time that the Xs became available and I was REALLY nervous about upgrading. I had connected with the 2s so much that I was fearful that dropping several hundred more might not really yield the sort of improvement I would have liked. As much as I loved the 2s, though, the Xs really are just in another league. Amazing imaging, beautiful 3D soundstage, incredible realism...took me to a place I never thought I'd go with a pair of headphones. They've ruined me for every other headphone, in fact...and that's NOT what I really wanted to happen lol.  I wish I had checked if my 2s were Fazors, though...I bought them in October, so I'm thinking they probably weren't, but not sure.

Call me shallow but I couldn't stomach paying those $$$ for something so visually monstrous! I use my LCD-X outdoors a lot btw but couldn't see doing the same with the Abyss.

What amp were you using with sr009. What conditions did you test (shop, friends, meet, etc)

Nothing portable could drive abyss to any decent level.

I was listening Sr009 with bhse at one audiophile's home visit. It is truly beautiful at mid-high frequencies and the transparency is second to none. But, at last I prefer dynamic or ortho headphones as 009 is kind of surreal to me, making me wonders rather than engaging into the music...just my preference...
