how about a smooth face AND good music for the win?  traditional wet shave is one of those things that is harder to understand the appreciation for but once you get into it then it all makes perfect sense.  you should give it a shot...

I've been shaving since I was 15 (I'm 42 now) and sorry, I don't really appreciate a smooth face. FWIW, I have given it a shot...don't really care either way. Now good music played through the LCD-X, that's another story...

The LCD-X are my favourite non-stat headphone...simply outstanding! Between the two, I think you made the right choice (that said, the PS1000s are my new favourite current Grado headphone).

It's a Grado thing

...the overall transparency on the LCD-X is definitely a cut above, but the PS1000s really fit the bill for great Grado headphones that rock. The GS1000s, while more comfortable, had a bit too much mid-bass for my liking.

so no regret then putting the rs1 up for sale then?
i've had mine longer than any other single piece of kit i have, but that might have a lot to do with sentiment , i get emotionally tied to things from time to time ! lol

Don't think the sound changes that much with new cables but the comfort is improved and at least it isn't absurdly long.  Trevor at Norne Audio is great to work with and will make sure you get exactly what you are looking for.  Q-Audio also makes a nice french silk cable.

I have the Q cables for my LCDXs and really like them.  They're super light and a real step up in design and comfort from the stock cables.  The sound is every bit as good if not better than the stock. I'd recommend them for sure.

Maybe I'm totally thick here but I only want to buy after market cables for sound quality,I don't understand comfort and design as it's the headphone sitting on my head not the cables so I can't see how comfort makes any difference being just a cable
