So the firmware is 7.1.5 right?
I never use that cable until today, man! this cable is so good!
I have to say it really "wow"s me!
if this is the future let it be!!
No extra DAC no extra amp, no extra dap, just you headphone and your phone which can deliver incredible sound!

I've been using cipher cable for some months now, and my Hugo dac is gathering dust. The small difference in SQ is levelled out with the convenience of using my iPhone and Cipher. Love it!

I have the same experience. Rather than carry around a pocket full of gear, the iPhone>Cipher>i4 delivers the best mobile SQ in the smallest and most convenient package.

this is a great mobile solution. no small bricks to carry, warm up or strapping huge headphones on. just a cipher cable straight out of my iPhone playing flac.

you guys that bought new experience any break in? I think I have maybe 50 hours on mine and it seems a little crisper even though it's still warm and smooth.

How can I tell I have cipher V1 or V2 cable?
V1 is a flat cable with 3 button remote, V2 is round cable with 4 button remote.

I've been playing around with the cipher cable and EQ. When the EQ is set to flat with the app, is it possible that cipher is still applying some default EQ which the app doesn't show? I haven't done any proper comparisons, but it seems like using the cipher cable with the EQ set flat on the app produces a "thicker" sound than I recall when using the Mojo or Hugo 2 - but this is going from memory and I don't consider my perception on this to be reliable.

Yes the Cipher cable has an inbuilt tuning that is always active. Any change you make using the EQ app is on top of that.

What a relief, thank you for clarifying - maybe my memory and perception are more reliable than I thought! Could you please summarize the tuning built into the cipher cable?

anyone using triple flange silicone plugs for their isine/i4 please?

i found there's no need for ear hooks anymore. the ear hooks are causing some red marks on my outer ears.
Lcdi4/ isine series are designed to sit just at the entrance of the ear canal. Don't force them inside your ears. They are designed not to isolate noise. (open/semi-open)...
I have tried spinfits, comply tips... but they degraded the sound to a large extent as compared to the stock grooved/silicon tips. I have no experience with triple flange. I am used to the open nature of lcdi4. Now I feel awkward/uncomfortable when I use sound isolating in ear monitors.

You should try the large ear hooks ( 2 sizes are available in the accessories ).

For sore ear pinna please try this mod....Post #1917... I am using this mod with amazing results... I am very happy with the fit and comfort of lcd i4.

Adds a slight bass boost and adds the effect of outer ear/concha that results in an increased energy in the presence region.

Thank you, that’s about how the difference sounds to me. Could you tell us which EQ settings we should use in the app to approximately negate the EQ built into the cipher? I’m interested in starting there and then adjusting.

Also, a suggestion: if you update the app to allow four EQ presets, that would add nice options to quickly choose an EQ which is preferred for a given track, since there’s so much variability in how tracks are recorded.

It will be very hard to negate the EQ using a 10 band GEQ as 10 band EQ will not provide the precise control you will need.. I would suggest taking the alternate approach of treating the base tuning ad working up from that. The base tuning matches are Roon and Reveal plugins and should be very close to neutral.
