Audeze LCD i4 TOTL In-Ear Monitor Discussion

has anyone notice the cable is very sensitive to current?
I mean, first time I notice is when I charge and play my mojo paired with it, I can feel in my right ear some hmmm sound.
Today I took off my jacket, when it pass the cable, there is a very strong cracking sound in my left ear almost kill me...
I have them hum a lot when touching either side, while not plugged to anything... so yes static can be an issue :p

I have gone through the same problem.
i have posted the solution in the thread before. I am posting it again... saving time...

1. If you have hum/static while touching the lcd i4 outer casing or the hum starts as soon as your hands or shoulders come close to your ears ... that too when your source is charging... the problem is with earthing/signal interference.... i had the same problem with hugo 2 (charging on) .... i am using ifi audio groundhog as advised by Kmann ( the groundhog should be directly connected to the wall, not the extension cord)... other alternative is to use ifi audio micro iusb 3.0... this is the best solution to correct the EMI/RMF/GROUNDING etc. ( this works in complex extension cord/power outlets)... there is no hum when the charging of the source is off....it also depends upon the laptop/ pc/imac ...do they have grounding in their plug...

2. I had the same problem with MacBook pro via usb while charging.

3. The other solution is use optical out. ( no fuss at all)...it limits bitrate to 192/24 (thats not a problem imho)...

4. I use my Ak kann as a transport with hugo 2.... no problems at all...works fine.

I believe the main problem is with the power supply .... i have noticed improvement in sound quality after eliminating the power issues....

Thanks

Thanks for the brief, this being said the “issue” for me happens without being plugged to anything... probably just human body static electricity. Not a real issue as I don’t walk around touching the earpieces :)

WIREWORLD SUPERNOVA 7 OPTICAL CABLE paired with Hugo 2 is Unbelievable.
The sound from lcd i4 has improved a lot over the stock usb/optical cable.
The soundstage has opened up a lot (width n depth).
Their is so much AIR...
The highs are non fatiguing ,extended, lot of details.
The bass tones have refined a lot...deep, fast n enough body is present for my taste.
Everything is so TRANSPARENT AND NATURAL.
I am listening to new sounds in my favourite tracks.( I love this sentence).
Its a game changer for me.

Guys, I am currently using A18 and Fourte with SP1000. I just ordered LCDi4 waiting to be delivered on Monday but a bit worried if SP1000 can supply enough juice.
Does LCDi4 require Hugo 2 to properly drive it? If anyone using LCDi4 with SP1000, what would be normal volume level on the player?

I have tried both balanced n unbalanced out from sp1000.
Balanced with Lioneheart is way better than unbalanced stock cable
Lcd i4 + unbalanced sp1000= 80-110/150....

Lcdi4 + balanced lionheart sp1000= 70 - 90....

Volume levels also depends on ambient noise (open back nature of lcdi4 ) and tracks (mastering n bit rate)

Waiting for your impressions on a18, fourte n lcdi4...

Thanks for your feedback on volume level. My coworker introduced me to isine 20 and I was so amazed by the holographic 3D sounds it produced so I thought
I give it a try but I chose lcdi4 instead because I know I would not be satisfy with isine 20. By Monday night I will have a real exposure. The way you described
SP1000 appears to have enough power to drive lcdi4. Wonder if there is much difference w or w/out Hugo 2 in between.

Could you please give more details on where to obtain the Lionheart Balanced Cable for the SP1000?

Thanks!

Hello everybody, I recently reviewed the i4. A very unique earphone, had to rewrite the review a couple of times to get it right.

Great review, particularly with the comparisons to other iems. So would you say the spiral ear gives is the closest in sound signature to the i4 of the many totl iems you have tried?
