Audeze LCD-4z - Impressions Thread

Totally agree. It does not feel like a 600g + headphone on my head. I have not experienced any discomfort or fatigue

Most sources say 600-something, so I am not surprised to hear 630 and 638g. I think there was one site erroneously listing it at 460g. They must have copied the mistake into ounces, or vice-versa.

The reason I was asking is because in another thread we were establishing that the MX4 is indeed a lighter headphone. Mine weighs 568g. The point was that the MX4 is very comfortable, whereas the LCD-2CB I used to own weighed in at 644g and was starting to hurt after 45-60 min. It sounds like the 4z is close to the 2CB in weight, but more ergonomic? Why would that be? The carbon fiber in the headband instead of the metal?

I think the weight has to do with the different magnets in 4z.

It's definitely more than 600g. I a/bed the lcd4z with the d8000, and the lcd4z was noticeably heavier, and pressure was immediately felt.
It sounded very good though.
Yes. Need to do some shrugs to wear them on a daily basis.

This is why I say Audeze has a big ergonomics problem they have to solve....the overall experience of weight and clamping force on their LCD's. Talked to several people at CanJam that love the Audeze sound but said they can't stand wearing them.

So the 4z also has a clamping issue? The MX4 is not clampy at all and the weight is better. They should move all future models in that direction, I agree.

Hmm.. there is a prototype mentioned in that Josh stream a few pages back. The LCD24?
It had the same shell as the 4z tho. The 4z is an improvement but still awkward, time for an all new design.

BTW, Google conversion is cm to feet so 5.7 feet (not feet and inches).

What is that? Any pictures or announcements? Whats the point of a LCD -24 ? cheaper version? Isnt the classic suppose to be that?

I can’t comment on the 2CB as I’ve never tried it on but what I can say is that on a good day when I have enough spare time I can wear the 4Z on and off for hours on end with absolutely no issues.
I second that. I acutally did not buy the Utopia as it strained my neck within 10 minutes of use. Nothing even close to that with the 4z. I can and do listen for hours with no pain or strain whatsoever.

Yes I have heard about the the LCD24 I believe Metal571 has seen it. I would like to know more. I don’t think it’s electrostatic at all. I think it’s going to be more low end, which is what is needed. It seems like all of their innovation thus far has been on the high end only.....MX4 and 4Z. They need to have cheaper HP’s that are lighter and a little less bulky.

They do. LCD 2, LCD 2 classic, LCD 2 closed, Mobius, Sine, X, XC, EL8, etc.
