Let me lay a fact down for you then. You can’t make a statement that everyone hears differently and then follow it up with every IFI product is inferior to Chord. That’s called hypocrisy and you’re full of it.

So you believe everyone hears the same? That would certainly be contrary to any reality. And it's you who said "every IFI product is inferior to Chord". I certainly never did, although they probably are given they cost way less.

No brother. I agree with your first statement. It’s the follow up that’s off the mark. But worse yet, is that you strung them together and can’t see the dichotomy.

iFi stuff is very mid-fi compared to Chord stuff. They don't sound nearly as resolving. If you think you hear more bass with the iFi, it's added bass distortion.

Really? Then please tell me what it means when you say something is mid-fi compared to another product that you consider hi-fi. And that there’s no other possible reason that it could produce higher quality bass because the only reason the bass might sound fuller is because it has to be from higher levels of harmonic distortion?

At a much lower price, which it is, I would expect it to sound worse. Just like how I would expect a Chord DAC to sound worse than a $45k dCs DAC.

There a lot of really expensive Ultrasone’s out there that sound worse than the ATH M50X and Koss Porta Pro. Price is not the sole contributing factor on sound or quality.

MSRP is neither a technical or operational spec. It does have a tendency to cause expectation bias however, which you acknowledge above.

Anyone tried the 4z with the SP1000 yet?

I am of the opinion the 4z sounds better out of the SP1000 compared to the Hugo2..

Will be interested to hear the opinions of others who heard both.
