Audeze LCD-4z - Impressions Thread

Exactly! I actually think this is the perfect amp for these cans. The options bode well for the 4z.

My hope was to, in the long run, save money thru amp. It's really amazing how good it sounds. With the Hugo 2 , I bet it would sound bass lite.
I sure hope not really bass lite as im using hugo 2 ;). People confirmed earlier in this thread that the Lcd4z & hugo 2 combination is outstanding. Hope to update in about a week.

I'm using the 4z with the Hugo 2 currently and trust me, it's not bass light.

Ummm nope. I am running 4z with Hugo 2 and Gilmore Lite Mark 2, definitely NOT bass light. Hits hard and tight, not light.

What I mean by bass light is, is the ifi will have more than Hugo. It would sound, clarity wise, just as good and save money.
Hard to be bass light with the 4z. Bad choice of worda

iFi stuff is very mid-fi compared to Chord stuff. They don't sound nearly as resolving. If you think you hear more bass with the iFi, it's added bass distortion.

I understand that. I've had three Hugo 2's and have compared extensively Hugo 2 vs other amp and dac. The Hugo is awesome, but the amount of difference with these two with these cans is minimal if at all.

That's a generalization. We cannot make blanket statements like that since everyone hears differently. Some may actually prefer more second order harmonic distortion to their sound than what Chord outputs for example.

The fact that all of the Chord products sell extremely well disproves your statement that:

the amount of difference with these two with these cans is minimal if at all

You're missing the point, but that's not a shock in this field .
I have no axe to grind. So, are you saying the IFI gear has more bass than Hugo2? I'm wondering if it might be a bit of that bass bloom from distortion. Just trying to clarify your point of view. Not trying to come across as a Chord fanboy. Truth is, I started with Hugo1, and never availed myself of a journey through other DACs, amps etc. I won't bite.

You attack him for making a generalization and your rebuttal contains two generalization/blanket statements? Smh.

Facts are different then generalizations. Learn the differences.

No worries mate. I predict you're gonna love it. Just give the 4z quite a bit of listening time to really flesh out the bass and mids. And when it matures you will know it without a doubt, if anything like my experience.
It really does mature nicely; I was pleasantly surprised to say the least.
