Is the lcd4 forgiving in the upper mids and treble?, does it have any shouty peaks?
I've had the lcd4z, and loved it, it offered no listening fatigue.
But I hear the lcd4 is technically better?
How does it differ in sound vs the 4z?
I have the LCD4 and spent an afternoon comparing it to the 4z. They are Very similar. If anything the 4 has lusher mids. This was on a very nice system, so I think it was a fair comparison. If you liked the 4z then you will like the 4. With tube amps I would recommend the 4.

I am opposite recommend 4z with tubes. 4 as I remember them was more colored and tubes increased that coloration. and by the way it is way too few tube amps that can drive lcd-4 really well. I tried it many times with tubes and it was not so good as at powerfull moon 430, which is much worse in general than my tube amps like ECBA and Viva. maybe viva 845 or wa33 would be good, but I never tried them. if you have just average tube amp it is much better go with LCD-4z. I have gone with them despite I loved LCD-4 very very very much and I believe they are little better than 4z in general, but only with really good amplification.

Out of 4z and 4, which one was a more clearer and resolving mid-range?

4Z

LCD-4 is lusher, warmer, more wet, more forgiving at upper mid area. It comes with bigger soundstage imaging though.

With both at proper set up, and terrible recording quality, 4Z will pronounce more of sharp, edgy, and peaks at upper mid to treble area.

I have run the 4 with Woo WA6SE, WA5LE, and WA33. Very good results with all three. The 200 Ohm load of the 4 I feel plays well with tubes. I did listen to the 4z on tubes and that is what my previous post was based on. Taste differ however.

Does anyone know where to get or buy the LCD foam earcup spacer block that comes with Audeze headphones? If anyone has any extra, I'll buy one for my LCD 3. I am unable to find them for sale online at all or find any mention of them.

First place I would try is Audeze customer service. Second place would be Dekoni.

Reading around shows that lcd4 has varying sound and FR through the years they have made them.

I'd like to find one with the smoothest presentation, with the most dip in the upper mids/lower treble.
Which LCD 4 is more leaning that way? Like... What year or how do I find?
