I use my LCD-4 with a Woo WA5le v2. Plenty of power and I absolutely love the sound. Upgraded tubes make a difference though. I guess it all comes down to personal preference.

I run the lcd 4 with moon neo 430had out from tidal with usb, is there any point in upgrading to another dac then the integrated?

I found adding Hugo 2 or qutest as dac does make a difference. It provides much better clarity and detailI run the lcd 4 with moon neo 430had out from tidal with usb, is there any point in upgrading to another dac then the integrated?

What cable are you using?I agree, Chord DAVE is capable to drive LCD-4 and it sounds wonderful, I agree. Combo DAVE + Moon 430HA sounds punchier and more liquid. On the other hand, sound signature with just DAVE is more transparent, more effortless and more accurate I would say.
I tried directly drive the LCD-4 with Dave in audio show. It doesn’t give the punchy bass compares to my liquid gold.

DHC Prion4S with Prion dual 3 pin to 1/4" adapter when connecting to the DAVE.

Well the 430 integrated DAC is great value for its additional cost, but there are better DACs. Importantly, if you want to fully unfold Tidal Masters to get the full HiRes sound you need a DAC that has MQA incorporated in it.

Which headphone is more forgiving? LCD-3 or LCD-4?

Definitely LCD-3! I used to own one, before I went for LCD-4. LCD-3 are easier to drive, not as detailed sounding headphones. Source is more important with LCD-4.
I would agree. I currently have both 3 and 4. The 3 is more laid back and darker sounding. Still detailed but not to the level of the 4. If it is in the song, the 4 will reveal it. Good or bad.
PS: please stay away from tube amps with LCD-4, it will make them too mellow and slow.
I respectfully disagree. I spend about 50/50 running my LCD-4 out of my Woo WA5 and Cavalli Liquid Gold. I would not part with my WA5 unless I could move up to a WA33.[/QUOTE]
Generally speaking, I think this is due to "most" tube amps not being able to supply the LCD-4s with enough current. Not all...just plenty enough to give this overall impression. The WA5 or WA33 are spectacular with the LCD-4.

Wonder how these would sound out of the new Cayin HA-300... just a possible end game stack I'm targeting out of thin air, having pretty decent access to Cayin gear locally... hahaha!

Wow, the Lazuli Reference cable (the Danacable) turned out to be magnificent with my LCD4. I wasn't expecting such a dramatic improvement. 'been listening for hours. Great controlled bass, sweeter, more analog sounding vocals and upper mids in general, an more definition in imaging.
Mine is a 2-meter, unbalanced.
