Mine are Macassar ebony I believe, and they remind me a little of Cocobolo at certain angles, it's beautiful wood. The stripes flow like lines on a tiger.
Look great, sound great. The tone of this headphone is fantastic.

I love that Audeze took the time to match the wood on each cup. Both cups have more of the reddish wood on the front and the darker wood on the rear side (above front, below rear).

They certainly are beautiful works of art!

Ensure the grain matches. Ebony has that more red than brown tone. Here is a another and this isn't the ebony. Although they're far more likely rarer.

Does anyone know if the Bottlehead Crack would be a decent pairing given the high impedance of the 4s at 200 ohms? I got some killer dynamic tubes on mine that I’d love to check out.

You could give it a go and see what you think. My OTL powers mine alright, but I prefer the SET tube amp.

Woo WA5le or WA33se, I had both and the LCD-4 sounded fantastic. Which one depends on taste. The WA5 is the more tubey sounding of the two.

At the higher end of transformer coupled tube amps, there are quite a few. Having heard those 2 Woo Audio amps, I'd agree but so is Odyssey.

How easy is it to install yourself? I always thought for the LCD4's, you needed to send them into Audeze (or an authorized repairer) to have the pads changed. Otherwise warranty is void.

Yeah what I mean is that my authorised dealer 'Minidisc' has got the pads for me and I will bring my LCD4 in this Friday to have it installed.

The truth is changing the pads is so straight forward. I could have done it myself. Stuff the warranty.
