Audeze LCD-4

Guess we will find out tomorrow. Was really really hoping for an LCD-5. Looks like that won't happen soon if this is a full market release as opposed to the limited release LCD-R. One reviewer promised something radical soon so this must be it. What would be really radical would be an electrostat that did not require me to spend thousands for a new amp.

I have a feeling they won't stop here. They know what's more in demand & I feel like they'll give this estat a breathing period of 2 months or so before announcing the LCD-5. Hopefully.

Audeze does like to recycle body and styling across its line; maybe the future for Audeze will be a ribbon driver in the CRBN body, thusly solving the weight issue of the old LCD family and whatever soundstage limitations of the old housing.
This is obviously all conjecture, but it could be possible that a lighter ribbon headphone in that housing will finally split the Hifiman airiness and comfort, Audeze mids and bass lushness gap that we have always wanted someone to fill.

I have been looking for another estat to go with my Voce. Tried Stax and didn't care for them. This new Audeze may go nice with my BHSE.

I can get close new. Bryston BHA-1 for $2295. Certainly under $2K for used. A friend of mine has used one with his LCD-4 for years very happily.

Can anyone recommend a solid state amp under 2k for the lcd4?
I use the gsx-mini and highly recommend it. Great amp.

V280 was a great fit for me when demoed a couple of times

for me, potentially peaky highs were kept in check and the mids and bottom end were full

I tried the 280 but it was to warm for me and it didn't play so well with low impedance headphones
Lucky lcd4 is 200 ohm :)

i know what you mean especially with empyreans - too warm

but if you get a chance i would recommend you demo it with the lcd4.…..just in case :)
