But Audeze themselves don't sell B stock? Ok, I'll inquire with them about resellers. I think LCD-4 are the flagships I'll be going for.

Audeze does, at times, sell B stock themselves. I'm guessing, but if I had returned mine because I did not like them they would have been resold as B stock.

I will need to learn a bit more about the big flagships, simply. Wondering about the Focals, for instance, and a thing I saw reviewed very short time ago that I forgot the name of. Probably not Stax, but that's for portability reasons. Listening-wise, I will try to get something done, but like so many here, I will be buying half blind. I have listened to the LCD-2 on a Chord Hugo, which made me very happy. Plus, I have just plain wanted something planar magnetic from the time I heard about that technology in the early 90ies! Anything up from there will no doubt make me happier. Sound-wise:
  1. I like my bass tight. Dry and controlled, but not at all vanishing! The headphones should be able to go to at least 14Hz (my lower threshold).
  2. Music happens in the mids. I love vocal, and vocal gets so much from 2-400 Hz, which I guess are low mids.
  3. I hate muddy and love to be able to hear things clearly. My ears are older, though (age 54), and the mosquito tone at 17kHz is lost to me. My threshold is around 15kHz, and I have a small recess at 8kHz.
Some of the frequency profiling, I guess, can be made up for by EQ. But there are limits to that too. Audeze are offering some kind of EQ for the LCD-4, though, aren't they?

That might be where I buy them. A good reputation here and a reasonably new pair of LCD-4 will be great! Or Focal. Or that other one. I will take yet a bit more time to figure it out. But I appreciate all the help I get by reading and getting answers in various threads in here. :)

Headphones dot com and moon-audio dot com are reputable.

Which LCD-4 colors are still in production?

Has anyone used their LCD4 on a Cayin Ha-6a?
If so, did it feel like enough Juice?

Headphones dot com and moon-audio dot com are reputable.

Didn't David Mahler of that "Top 100" list work at the first one? I'll check both, and see what they say.

It's not black but dark brown. The lighting in the photos doesn't accurately reflect the colour.
That's what I also thought, should be the ebony wood variant.

However the Amazon Text states black in title and further down in the description.
Guess it's just an error on amazons side

Are LCD-4 have LCD-3 issue with different revision sounding?

I just tried old LCD 4 with blue cable, and newer model with black n white cable. They sound more similar than different to each other. I prefer the black n white cable though, I think due to pad condition and the newer cable also sound clearer with a little more intimate in vocality.
