I just talked to a tech at audeze and he said what I did with the glue is perfect and is what they recommend. Also, he told me to use the gorilla glue on the screws on the pivot points as they are glued down at the factory.
And I asked the question se vs balanced and he said they think there is no difference . Awesome.

The reviews tend to speak of a 4-8khz drop, but I don't mind that as the 800 (and the utopia) was the opposite and just hurt.
Parametric EQ is your friend or the free Audeze Reveal via your computer will help adjust the sound to your liking. The LCD-4s do very well with eq

I have to say the sound from these is downright intoxicating. I absolutely love them.

Well, that intoxication is downright infectious.

I am not hearing what you're hearing, but reading your report alone is almost making me want to take another honeymoon dance with my LCD-4, as if I just bought it yesterday. I am definitely feeling me the flow of some LCD-4 intoxication, right about now:

So I'm reading through this thread and a common theme is the amp and power. The bryston is a none issue, but the icon audio hp8 mk2 is rated to drive cans up to 600ohms, so I "think" I'm good that way for tubes, but someone said it won't bring out the bass. The smsl sp200 appears to just give a "polite" presentation with the 4s. It looks like I will just have to listen to the icon and smsl and decide.
Edit: just read that a member uses the smsl sp200 and he says it sounds great.

Sp200 is more than sufficient. I tried the Phonitor xe (on a different DAC and source) and it practically sounds the same to my amazement. I still want that crossfeed function though
