I believe so, as far as I could tell they gave me a brand new headphone (without the fancy packaging/manuals etc). But I don't actually know if they reused any parts. I just know it looked brand new and sounded much better... and I really liked the HE1000 to start with. I didn't know what I was missing until I heard the v2.
I still need to do a head to head with the LCD-4 though.

HE1000 V2 changes were mostly cosmetic weren't they? Haven't really kept up with it (since I thought the upgrade price was ridiculous) but when it was announced I don't remember anything saying the sound quality had been changed with the V2

definite changes in sound signature...more dynamic,the soundstage is a bit smaller and they are more comfortable...great update but the LCD-4 is still better

Yeah I would expect EQ not to effect soundstage at all. Haven't played around with it much though.

It was definitely not cosmetic; they sound much fuller and engaging. I now understand why people called the HE1000 v1 "laid back" even if I didn't feel that way at first.
Anyway don't want to pollute this thread, please check out the HE1000 threads for more.

Thinking of testing these and trying to calculate my potential loss should I decide they are not for me. Assuming I want to sell them, what would a two week old pair in "like new" condition command in the for sale section? I would want a quick sale....

what does the aries do? any different or improvement vs using a standard usb connection to the yggy?
