I just wonder if this defect on the cable jack is acceptable or should I claim for a reparation or replacement of the cable;

No big deal on the one hand, on the other hand, I find it quite low quality for a 899€ pair of headphones. Do you think warranty should fix this?
Yes, it's a manufacturing defect. You should get a replacement.

Is that even the stock cable? Sure doesn't look like my 2C's cable. Notice how yours is rounded off, whereas mine has a very squared shoulder? And mine is wider and without a little step down on the jack. Maybe Audeze has changed the design. Do you have a wider shot of your cable?

Yours must be the older connector, mine looks like a long Neutrik connector, or very similar.

Purchased at Professional Music Store Germany. A huge huge shop here in Europe. Got them like a week ago, this was there from day one, as already documented in other thread. Hard to photograph something so close, this phone has no macro focus, this is digital zoom. But you can get the idea. No big deal really, purchase another connector and solder it. My cheapo 30€ sony earbuds have a perfect connector, and looks much better than this one. This one looks like a cheap chinese tin, rather than "gold plated" or any decent steel. But that is another story. Old one looks much better though. This cable came with an Audeze LCD-2C out of the box.

Oh, wow. That is definitely different, and I think you're right about it being Neutrik. I have a cable with a Neutrik like that, but its jack is crooked by about 15 degrees. Audeze should have stuck with the original design. Neutrik is not my preferred brand for that 6.3mm connector.

It's a shame that yours wasn't caught by whatever OEM made that cable. That's lousy QC and that falls on Audeze as soon as they put it in the box. Thanks for the pics and here's hoping you get a new cable quickly.

Here are some pics of these cans:

new style jack:

Here is the 2018 version with memory foam pads:

You can see the pads are thinner now. I sold my old pair to upgrade to the newest LCD-X but found my ears touching the fazors. So I have to switch back to the good-old LCD-2 classic, which still rocks:L3000:
Exactly, same jack that I got, nothing new there. Will contact the shop and ask them, thanks!

Well, it is no big deal. Certainly should not be in such a price item, but if they solve it I am happy. Maybe these cans were already returned from another buyer, I really don't know. The cable is quite decent. The mini XLR connector not REAN quality either, but all in all, these are quite cool SE cable, the aluminium Y thing is nice. Better than what you normally get with a new cans. Mine arrived faulty is the only issue. Soundwise very happy. Will contact them and surely will be solved.

Audeze solved this very fast, I will hopefully receive a new cable with no issues. Jimmy from Audeze solved the problem fast, thank you. Looking forward to receiving it.

got my new cable, very fast service directly from Audeze, thanks!! Previous cables were used, or very faulty, provably a previous owner issue from the shop I guess.

Photos ;-D

German shop sold it to me but it was a returned cable?? who knows... With the old one, I will make it balanced with a 4 pin XLR connector from Neutrik, so I get a free balanced cable for free almost, nice.

I love the headphones, very comfy and the sound is amazing, both bass and soundstage, really good. I used some eq, but if you hear them completely flat, no eq, stock sound I think is great, I not notice any scoops or boosts. I would maybe eq the mids a tiny little bit down, to have a bit of a smile curvature for low volume listening, maybe.

I noticed what zeos says in recent videos, seems like the head band is shorter, so the cans stick out of them further... happened with mine after I re attached the leather band due to stretching.

Old cable turned into balanced, not a hard job with a multimeter and four separate cores into an XLR 4 pin connector. Waiting for couple things to arrive to make a proper good job job. Original cable as you can see, top quality solder, clean and fully heat shrinked each line and the ground and all in all great built cable. A tiny bit microphonic maybe as others commented in reviews, we'll see balanced.

They should replace it for you and better even with another brand.

The pads look so much smaller than the old ones

I'm very curious if the new pads provide a notable upgrade in SQ. I find the previous pads comfortable on the LCD2Cs And am hesitant to change them out for the new ones.

The new pads can make your ears touch the driver enclosure. This depends on how protruding your ears are.

Only model that works for me is the first version LCD2C and pre fazor LCD 2 with fresh pads. The fazor models builds 5mm more inside the cup while also having the more slim pads.

They gave me a full new cable, shipped to me directly via FEDEX Express. I contacted Audeze directly and they solved the problem very fast. The shop was one of those big german music stores, not thomann, the other one, they didn't offered any kind of help, just to return them for a full refund is the option offered by the shop, and they took a while to answer. Audeze answered same day and fast.
