Audeze LCD-2C Classic - Impressions Thread

Yes they changed the pads and the material also. The newer pads are less thick and not memory foam at all which significantly impacted the frequency response in a good way.

Someone posted the pictures of comparing both the pads in this thread.
Do we have frequency response measurements that compare old with new pads.

I liked the old tuning therefore a significant change might be hit&miss

I think the biggest difference is that the 1,5-3khz area is not recessed anymore, whereas with the old pads it was quite recessed (which in my opinion ruined the stage a bit, and made them too dark, muffled and distant for me). The rest seems quite similar, but 1.5k-3k is a very relevant area and the difference here is quite big. Also the 3-6khz dip is more narrow, so the treble is a bit more present aswell, not just the upper mids.

So new FR:

Vs old FR:

They are from potentially different measurement rigs so tske them with a grain of salt.

Too Bad that you can't simply swap pads like on Meze headphones

not much change, prolly, but good that they keep improving year by year. Better pads and included case is nice. Old cardboard box not too nice with such expensive cans.
I wonder though, what is the difference in fit and comfort with these new pads. Also, ould someone show the photo with the differences or put alink to it? thank you so much!!

Theres actually less difference here. I was comparing to oratorys graph of the older pads, and having tried both, I really felt like the difference was quite big. Especially in the stage, so maybe it's not just FR that changed. But yes, technically if what Audeze said in that post is true, swapping pads from old ones to new ones should be enough, instead of buying a post 2021 Classic.

Consider the old pads a flat line, and this is what the new pads do in comparison. As you can see, it's mostly subtle differeences, with the biggest change being a bump at 3khz.

So I managed to bag a set of these on eBay, I'm sure they will need fresh pads so what's the best option that's not £80?

Dekoni?

I ordered m1060c but sent them back due to poor build.

I've got a balanced cable sorted as I run a fiio KA2 and ifi zen can balanced

The best option is to ask support for a pair of replacement pads

So they have arrived.

Old style pads, which I will probably replace,

One question though, if these are under powered will the bass get distorted?

I've got the zen can on gain 4 atm, as I'm waiting for a balanced cable.
Congratulations! I've had LCD-2c with Ifi Zen Dac and bought Ifi Zen Can amp a bit later. It was a while ago, but from what I remember, the separate Zen Can amp did not make a night and day difference. I am waiting for Xduoo TA-20 to try with LCD-2c now. Have you tried MQA with Zen Dac?

No, there is no chance of distortion on a solid state AMP. 2C definitely gets benefited with more powerful and quality AMP.

I had zen can and it's good but EF400 powers them better with better DAC and AMP.
