Audeze LCD-2C Classic - Impressions Thread

I’ve never owned a pair of HE560s or any other Hifiman headphones. Those that I’ve tried have been mostly underwhelming, and the build quality in general is poor - for my liking anyway. That doesn’t fully explain away the weight differences, but we’re talking a couple of hundred grams at most. Just the solid cups of the Audeze headphones probably account for half of that. As seen with the positive comments about the suspension strap system, the LCDs problem isn’t so much the weight but rather weight distribution, and the fact that the original strap doesn’t suit everyone equally in terms of comfort.

With regards the LCD-2C, I’d be more concerned about the reported delays, or the ‘wait’ rather than ‘weight’ :p

I do agree with you that LCD series look much better in built quality and materials over the HE series. How ever, both have Planar Magnetic driver I wonder why Hifiman can do a light weight headphones but Audeze can't.

EL-8 Open: 520g
EL-8 Closed: 540g
LCD-2C: 549g***
LCD-2 Bamboo/Shedua: 565g
LCD-2 Rosewood: 585g
LCD-3: 629g
LCD-X: 630g
LCD-XC: 680g
LCD-MX4: 555g
LCD-4: 695g

HE400i : 370g
Shangri La : 374g
HE560 : 375g
Edition X : 399g
HE1000 : 420g
Susvara : 450g
HE6 : 502 g

The heaviest Hifiman (HE6) is lighter than the lightest Audeze (EL-8).

I really in love with LCD-X sound but the weight of this can is intolerance (for me).

Can’t say for sure but it could be the number of magnets they use, like Igor suggested.

And thousands without that issue, apparently. This is by far the most "forgiving" headphone in my collection.

EDIT: And yes, this is way off topic...
Not thinking it is off topic as we're trying to compare(granted that most of us haven't heard the new old LCD2 it is a bit surreal)with other HPs listeners have had.
PS I suspect the x2's treble issue is due to lack of burn-in,i know some of you don't believe in it but i have experienced it on all my HPs,i must add s.o. once said to me planar magnetics don't have that burn in issue

Now that Nov is here I think LCD 2C should be soon available and lets hope someone comes with the impression.

I suspect we won’t see shipping units until well into next year...
I agree there. However, lets hope something comes out in December

If this new unit sounds anything like the Pre-fazor LCD-2 then I believe the price-to-performance ratio is insanely justifiable.
I should be getting the Sennheiser HD-660S sometime early next week, so I'm interested in how that will compare with my Pre-fazor LCD-2 Rev. 2.2.

I agree with you. I too have similar thoughts that is if it sounds like the Pre-fazor LCD2
