I posted about part of this previously. I bought the closed EL8 from Moon Audio last year, received a black box. The top end was very harsh, after reading a few posts in this forum I gave them a couple hundred hours to calm down, they didn't. Contacted Audeze and received a white box replacement. The top end was much better, but there was an annoying crackling in both cans if I made any movement at all. Turn your head, yawn, any movement at all and it would happen. Much like the rustling leaves comparison to a bad tube. Contacted Audeze again and they say its air moving over the drivers and it shouldn't happen when playing audio. But it did. Received a third pair and the same thing happened. Asked Audeze for a refund and they agreed. Shipped the cans to Audeze only to receive a phone call stating they can't issue me a refund. That they are going to ship the cans back to me and I must work with Moon Audio on a refund. I am frustrated at this point and emailed the folks at Moon Audio explaining what happened, awaiting a response. I have read good things about Moon Audio and am hopeful they will work with me on this. But am disappointed with Audeze. Was looking for a good closed headphone to use at work and home, not to disturb those around me. As much as I love my LCD2's, I don't think I will be buying another Audeze product. Now considering the Fostex TH900 or JH Angie.
If your budget can do the TH900, you may want to look into the Ether C instead. It has really good isolation and doesn't leak much sound at all. It's a little light on the bass though.
