ATTICUS and EIKON, the new dynamic driver headphones from ZMF
Nov 7, 2016 at 3:46 AM Post #616 of 9,748
...Maybe it's time for a note-of-reality: imagine you'd never heard of ZMF or any of these headphones. Then all of sudden you encounter an Omni, Atticus, or Eikon made of padauk (even just a picture). What would you think?
....

Hi, I am one of those people...

Having said this, I relied on the wood sound signature on the ZMF site and went for the cherry one. It is a bit too light for my taste but I know that through oxydation the wood darkens with time so, since I do not intend to buy these hp to sell them after purchasing I will let time do its job. The Padauk is too reddish for me, I am a shy boy...
Have a good day.

Well it looks like a bit more of 1/2 the new orders for the Eikon were with the Cherry. (Me included)

For the Atticus people mostly went with the Cherry as well.

In my case I ordered both models and got the Atticus with the Paduak mostly just to have both wood options.

I'm on the spreadsheet and don't mind personally but perhaps Zach might not like us talking about the information contained on there so openly on a public forum. At least not without his permission.

It's okay to talk about the order sheet!  Just so everyone knows, after you order we make a sheet that shows your place in line the specific batch you are in along with your headphones progress and order specifics.  It's an easy way to make sure everyone is on the same page regarding your order.
I don't like to make promises about delivery dates of individual headphones, but I can confidently say these will start shipping feb 1 at the latest.
All I ask is that you don't publicly post the order sheet link.  Thanks!

I think I'm one of those types that will wait on reviews and probably more wood options in the future.
I have the highest respect for someone who stands behind their product with something like a lifetime warranty. Too bad that's not a widespread thing!

Yeah, lifetime warranty is awesome and I ended up buying a Cherry Eikon. Will wait more reviews on Padauk and  Atticus.

Hey Zach!

I was just wondering if you could possibly describe to us, or show us, the stages of developement the Atticus and Eikon went through to look as they are?
I would love to know what was cut or didn't make it into the final product.

Luckily, this prototype Eikon did not make it to production.

That's actually the final design.  Hope you guys like it.  lol!

To be honest the first designs were really me trying all sorts of drivers in the Omni cups and just looking for potential.  Quickly I realized we needed to make many changes for the sonics to be their best for a dynamic driver.  We didn't print or CNC too many proto's as CAD software is so good that we just got it very close to the final version and went with it, making mostly changes for use rather than aesthetic.

@zach915m
Are the Atticus and Eikon 100% American made headphones? Including the drivers? This might seem like a detail that's not very important but to some it is.

The drivers for the Super Special Limited Edition Eikons are from Wakanda and actually made of Vibranium. Zach has partnered up with Marvel/Disney to get that big money.

100% American assembled, some parts from Asia.   Believe it or not, we tried to get a company (which will remain nameless) with American representation to work with us for the drivers, but they couldn't have cared less about us and didn't even provide samples.  We just aren't able to spend enough $.  I think others who are in manufacturing can attest, the quality places make great stuff and have great people and workers no matter where they are located in the world.  I'm not making a political argument by the way, as I've always just been drawn to quality products no matter where they are made.
