ATTICUS and EIKON, the new dynamic driver headphones from ZMF

Can anyone compare the Atticus and Eikon to the A&K/Beyerdynamic T5p (2nd gen)? I really love the T5p but I’ve always wanted to try a ZMF. Pretty much the only thing I’d change would be more subbass and a more natural/organic sound, plus greater isolation would be nice. However, the convenience of being able to get superb sound straight out of my iPhone X with the T5p is very nice.

I've had my Atticus for just a few days, and it's amazing with my WA6 (using Mullard GZ34 metal base rectifier and Sylvania 6FD7 drivers). Tonight I swapped out the ZMF OCC cable for a silver cable I've been using with my LCD2's. It really brightens up these cans! Has anyone else tried silver cables with the Atticus?

Zach - have you thought about adding silver to your cable lineup?

I use a silver and copper cable with my Atticus and find it pairs better than pure copper cables.

I'm curious on trying a silver cable myself. Love the Atticus with the Eikon pads - these have really made me happy. The only thing I'd like to slightly boost more is the microdetail. Getting a better amp will definitely help me in that regards but if a silver cable can help with that, I'd be willing to try that first.

My impression is that the silver cable improves everything across the board - tighter / more controlled bass, more open mids and highs, more detail, etc. It's not a subtle change to my ears.

Do you have a silver cable you prefer w/ your Atticus? I'm looking at a Silver Dragon at the moment.

I've used a tripple hybrid silver/copper/silver plated copper cable from norneaudio with my Eikons and it really made a difference (in the best of ways). Detail and soundstage got better, and we know the Eikon is really capable on detail. Bass was tighter, more controlled and with a little more even response. Highs smoothed out nicely. If you guys can go for a mix of metals, IMHO do it!
Zach take note for your cable options :wink:

I owned the t5p.2 for awhile and I currently own Atticus, so this is completely from memory. Atticus has superior bass in both quality and quantity, it has a more natural sound and treble is way more tame, it's obviously much harder to drive, as for sound leakage and isolation Atticus leaks an above average amount for a closed back but not as much as t5p as for isolation they isolate quite well definitely much better then t5p. Honestly they compliment each other quite well and if owning both is an option for you I would go ahead and do that.

@King CATalyst Unfortunately owning both is out of the question for me. It’s a little surprising that the Atticus has a greater quantity of bass given that the T5p already has such a strong punch. I used to think I was a moderate basshead, but after thoroughly enjoying cans & iems (AT E70) that are generally considered very balanced with “a slight bass boost” I think I’m more of a balance-head haha.

From your impressions I think the Eikon would actually suit my tastes, especially considering it has greater subbass extension (I need sub more than mid). I really really appreciate your thoughts, I could not find this info anywhere else!

Im using a custom cable that Zach made for me and it makes a pretty significant difference vs. stock.
@zach915m my cable is silver/copper hybrid,no?

BTW I got it back today and it works perfect.Thanks!

Im a little curious. Ive been with the HD600 for about 7 years at this point and I recently purchased the Eikon based on impressions and reviews. I have heard the Atticus and I was almost sold on those until I had an exchange with someone here. Im just a little curious, does anyone have any word on the comparison between the two? What exactly should I expect in terms of comparison between the two?
