good fit for me last time I tried them, so were the W1000 and AD2000....I supposed not noticing anything about the fit is a good thing?

The W5000 pads I've seen (on my own and other pairs) were the same thickness all the way around, the only difference was the width of the pleather strip that holds it to the earcup.

The "thickness" is actually created by the plastic angle extension at the rear of the ear cup pushing the pad further away form the cup. Together with the angled drivers, this helps to create the 3D soundstage.
I find my audio perception is affected more so by the seal to the front of the ear than anywhere else. Properly seated, the sound becomes fuller.

I thought buzzing was bad?! Oh, wait...
Since you can get specially moulded in-ear tips, why not make custom pads to fit your head too?

I really disliked the fit of the W5000 when I first got them, but everything that's been stated above is very true. Squeezing the metal headband helps, and you don't have to be too gentle. Rotating the pads is easy to do, and it also made a big difference. Finally, I think it's definitely accurate that the pads themselves "settle" over time and create a better fit.
At the beginning, I couldn't listen to the W5000's without fiddling with them to get a tighter seal, but now I just put them on and and enjoy. Superb headphones.

Fits me like a glove. Like a very, very comfortable, luxurious, ridiculously expensive glove, the price of which is offset by the glorious sounds emanating from its innards.

So you listen to 64kbps mp3 music with one ear via your Bluetooth earpiece that's connected to your phone? I had no idea Fitz!

Damn straight I do. Anybody who says they can hear a difference after 64kbps is a liar. My phone has just as much sound quality as one of those Orpheus things.

Then I'm sure you wouldn't mind dumping that overrated crap you have in your signature on someone like, oh, say, me?
