I've enjoyed listening to these maybe an hour a night for three weeks.  Very comfortable and sound great.

That is an amazing deal! I thought that they sounded good for $550, but $400? Insane!

The first time I heard W1000X around a year ago, at that time it's got too pricey, around $800++ (brand new)
 
Though as closed cans they're indeed good, but for $800 it's too much.

I think at about $650 they're ideally priced for what they are, sound and construction-wise. 
 
The only real issue is the pleather pads. Really gotta replace mine after I get paid for the jobs I'm working on right now.

so... what pad that can help to make the midrange a bit more forward? L3000's pad?

I believe it will but haven't tried it myself. I plan on getting a pair soon though, and finding out.
 
However, you could always take the current pads off and flattening them under a book for a while. That will bring your ears closer to the drivers, and that seems to bring the midrange forward more.

It's a very high quality pleather; it won't peel or chip like cheaper kinds. 
 
However, yeah, it's pleather. Honestly that and the el-cheapo packaging are the only things I'd consider flawed about them. Fortunately they're both correctable.

Why the sad face? You can just spend like $60 and get good leather pads. 
 
That'd probably be cheaper than a special edition would be.

Where can you get leather pads that would fit these?    And how would you get them on there?

Looks like they're $99 now, but sometimes they're less. The L3000 are the nicest pads you can get, the W5000 are a little thinner from what I've been told.
