Couldn't pass up $99 shipped on a new pair of ATH-W1000.  It's not the current X model, but hopefully it's not too shabby and a good experiment.
 
What should I expect in comparison to my current Sony 7509HD fed with a Lavry DA11?
 
The DA11 is said to do well with low-impedance cans - the ATH-W1000 are 40-ohm.  Hopefully it's a happy combo.

Seems like it´s sold out now, but apparently they have the AD2000 for sale for 200 USD new as well.
What a deal, wish they´d ship internationally too.

So maybe for once I scored a deal.  I'll know for sure if/when I get a tracking number.  I actually also had a set of Utrasone Pro 650's in cart and they went away.  Need to act decisively when the time comes...

Just FYI, I got a backorder notification from Musician's Friend on the W1000 a few minutes ago.  It stated that they have more of them on the way from the manufacturer, but no timetable was given.  So it is possible that there may be another opportunity to score one of these yet.  This is the first time I'm dealing with them so I don't really know what to expect.

I actually missed out on the W1000, so I decided to give them a call. I told the sales rep that there website says they are OOS but on Amazon.com it shows they are still selling them, they told me that they are in fact out of stock and won't be replenishing stock on the W1000. I guess we'll just have to sit back and wait :>

I've received a temporary order number just waiting on processing to go through. For the 650s yesterday it took around 8 hours for them to email me confirmation. I'll let you know when/if get confirmation.

BTW, I have had nothing but very positive experiences dealing with MF on 3-4 previous occasions, including one return.  Seems like a quality outfit.
