On October 7, Audio-Technica announced the coming release of numerous products including two new open-air earphones: the CM707 and the EC707.  Both will be branded under the "Earsuit" moniker and appear to be successors to the discontinued CM700 and EC700.  The CM707 uses a traditional earbud design, while the EC707 is a earbud/clip-on hybrid, similar to its predecessors and other phones like the Bang & Oulfsen Earphones (formerly A8) or the Creative Aurvana Air.  The CM707 and EC707 will both be released on December 10th in Japan.  The CM707 will retail for ¥9,975, while the EC707's MSRP is a bit higher at ¥12,600.  Expect actual street prices to be lower.

The CM707 utilizes a 15.4mm driver

The EC707's driver is smaller at 14.8mm

NO,

.  I just re-purchased both EC7 and EC700 a couple of months ago, they were not very hard to find, but pricey considering their age. Will EC707 sound like EC7 or EC700 ? I can't wait.

I actually was a bit worried since I believe it's been several months since the CM700's discontinuance and there were no new announcements till now.  Glad to see they're still in the game.

Now you know what you must do: get a pair of the EC707s, then do a massive comparison review!

happy to see another good earbuds. there are not so many on the market. now i need only to see a good big review.

Considering the high owner loyalty of AT earbuds, it should only be a matter of time before somebody reviews them.

Thought they must be discontinued. Have seen some quite heavily discounted from sources where you wouldn't expect fakes to appear. Audio Affair who are official Audio Technica dealer have been offering them under £50 in UK and Hughes Direct have 'em listed at under £30. Pity that big uncertainty hangs over them about whether they can be made to fit properly. Oops, sorry to sound so miserable. New earbuds on market has to be good news.

I am waiting for CKM77 and CKM99 review, since its going to be ATH's highest dynamic IEM, hopefully it will be able to compete with other high end dynamic driver IEM

Thanks for the additional info!  I would have started another thread, but I'm just too lazy nowadays (I should have your username

) and AT must of made at least a dozen new product announcements at that press conference.

The CKM99 is indeed interesting since it's a dynamically-driven IEM that replaces the balanced armature CKM90.  I believe the CKM99 is AT's most expensive dynamic earphone to date, so that alone makes it one to watch.

And why am I not surprised at yet another limited edition CKS90?

got the cm707 and its on its way now. will compare to the piano forte II once it arrives

Your user name is very good. It describes all of us in this place...

I am curious about the CM707, so I am looking forward to your impressions. I recently bought the CM700TI, so I might not need another pair of ATH earbuds. But there is nothing wrong in being curious...

this will be interesting. i have pk1 and just ordered piano forte ii a couple of days ago...with the caliber of SQ that earbuds are capable nowadays, not to mention price, it's hard to justify any other style of portable headphone except for IEMs. And if you can't stand putting things into your ear or explicitly need to be able to hear your surroundings, that leaves 1 good choice...I have RE0 and that is all the IEM I need; I rarely even use those because I usually need to hear my surroundings. Hell I very very rarely use my G1A anymore.

yup earbuds are the most comfortable for long listening sessions while still sounding good. While they dont come close to full size cans, they can somehow portray the sound especially on high end earbuds. i have owned mx980 before and i do hope these new competitors will provide a different sound sig and most importantly better value
