I've searched around but couldn't find info on this particular model (although it's commonly praised). I love my set, but I've lost them moving apartments. Being discontinued, what would be the closest model (by AT or otherwise) to match their sound and wearing comfort? Similar price range ~$150-200?

I did notice the ATH-AD700X are available on Amazon, but I'm not sure of the difference vs the non-X model.

My two cents, just get the AD700X.

You can also consider the Sennheiser HD560S. Same pricepoint, open back, light, comfortable, and reasonably easy to drive, though probably a bit harder than the AD700. If you EQ, drop 4-5khz a few db and it'll be nearly perfectly neutral.

I read here that the X have worse pads and are worse for gaming (both things are really value). So, it's an option, but I'm not sure the best one for me.
I just bought my nephews several lower costing headphones, for FPS gaming, one of the headphones being the AD700X.
So far the AD700X seems to just as good as the others, for FPS gaming.
