Astell & Kern SR25: The next A&norma player

Recently picked up a DDHiFi A&K 3.5/2.5 to 4.4 balanced adaptor. Does exactly what it says, reduces the need to replace/swap cables. Far I can see is transparent :). The inclusion of 3.5 SE likely adds to stability and brings "ground" to the 4.4, not that I feel it matters so much.

Interesting. I didn’t know that DDHifi did this. I was having a look at the similar adapters from Effect Audio and PW Audio. The prices differ on all three though and I’m not certain why. It’s something like £200 for EA, £125 for PW and £45 for DD.

Is the sound from your SR25 with this adapter just as good as before i.e. no loss of sound quality that you can tell? That’s one thing that worries me a little generally about using adapters.

Not a bad idea. Model DJ44K on Aliexpress. Over $40 dollar. Maybe something for 11.11 sale :)

Sounds exactly the same, although some claims of the 3.5 ground improving audio stability. I think the primary reason for the design is physical strength & stability so no undue stress is placed on the 2.5 balanced port. As for the higher priced ones just marketing, possibly snake oil in some cases. The ddHiFi DJ44K adapter is well designed and constructed and works as advertised :)

The adaptor certainly helps to bring the best out of my HIFIMAN Deva which prefer more power, very impressed with the pairing with the SR25 :)

n.b. no affiliation with ddHiFi just a decent product at a fair price.

Thanks for your reply on that. It’s good to know that DDHifi provides an option.

Why is it to 4.4 instead of to 6.35 - which would be easier all round?

Lot of people already have IEM/HP with the 4.4 balanced Pentaconn jack, hence the market for the adapter to save on swapping out the cable.

Does anyone know why my wiFi won't connect? For some reason it connects on my Kann Cube, yet it doesn't with my SR25...

Not sure about Cube, but SR25 only supports the older 2.4 GHz wifi band.

Kann Cube is also 2.4GHz only, so it's not that. My own SR25 connects without issue, always worthwhile restarting everything in the chain and see what happens.

It doesn't make sense considering that it was working a few weeks ago...
