Correct if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the 8 channel ESS be dual be default as you have 4 channels per side?

No. Dual means two physical chips. 1 DAC (physical chip) in this instance is 8 channels, 4 per side. A dual DAC would be 18 channels, 8 per side. 1 physical chip for left channel, 1 for right.

I'm kind of a Sabre fan, had stuff mainly equipped with ESS DAC's, so I hope the SE100 won't be a disappointment regarding my expectations. I have no issues at all with the SR15, it is a cool sounding player, just seems like I have already stepped over the Norma level... want more.

If you get the SE100, please post your thoughts, given you already have experience with other ESS Sabre products.

I have SE100 and im happy. But my question: How is the difference in sound signature to the newer SP 1000 M ? There are different DAC Chips. I hear SE100 with Campfire Solaris. But there is hiss out of the balnanced output.

The se 100 is smooth and detailed across the spectrum. The sp1000m is smoother, in my opinion, and has more depth and detail. It is warmer and richer sound. The soundstage is deeper and wider and exhibits more layering and detail. There seems to be an additional layer of richness in the sound of the 1000m; more layering and space.

Going into to my dealer Monday to demo the SE100. Fingers crossed it doesnt hiss on BAL with EE Zeus R.

Yes, you can play MQA tracks that are loaded in internal memory and the player will do a full unfold.

I assume only downloaded music shows the MQA symbol and tidal streamed Mia tracks just show the m, correct?

I couldn't get AK Connect to detect my DLNA server so I did the next best thing; I installed foobar200 on my SE100 so I can play my music off of my server. I might try VLC next.

BTW, I had to modified the APK to get it installed on the device. Don't ask me for it.

think you may have quoted the wrong person I was saying its interesting that he got a different app on the SE100 that isn't approved by AK.
