I can count on one hand how many times the SP1000 left my house, 2 times. So its not a big deal to me and I bet to most owners.

I hope Sony will soon launch a new portable DAP to challenge this SP2000... DMP-Z1 is too bulky - can't consider it as portable..

As I was thinking about this exact idea I noticed your post! Hopefully Sony will release something good this year.

Don't mind if its next year
You must be really patient then! It's already been about 3 years since Sony released their last flagship so that's why I'm hoping for something to release for 2019, not to mention it's also the original Walkman's 40th anniversary.

I'm sure they will come up with something soon, even more sure I'll be buying it, but I've gone all the way with spending lately and am super happy with LPGT,Solaris,LX,1000M, really pointless spending more for small differences.
Been trying to sell Hugo 2 for a while now, it's not easy as it used to be to get some back, so the hoby has become very one directional and stuff comes out tempting us while realistically sq difference is almost imaginable next to your older device

I think they can't
The language of design and sound signature won't change, then they can't compete.
DMP-Z1 is somethings werid and :)) funny

To me AK SP2000 looks very nice - beautiful curvy design.. Specs look great eg. DSD 512/22.56, etc.. Internal memory 512GB is ok but new bigger microSD cards can cover for that...The only 2 problems - 1) there is no 4.4mm balanced port & 2) 8 hours battery life is terrible considering WM1Z can last for like 30 hours... :frowning2:

Everything has its trade of.
I appreciate the battery life of wm1z, very impressive in comparison to other brands in the market. But the UI, the sound quality is very weird :frowning2: you can feel like it is somethings upgrading from a normal MP3 player.
SP2000 you have ultimate UI and album management :) it is same as you move from normal app to roon(you will feel it is totally different). Bigger and ultrasharp screen result in more battery assumption. I'm using SP1000 and it can actually last to 10 hours. Enough for 2 to 3 day :)

Mm....only interested in how it performs SQ-wise.......vs. Wm1z, dmp z1, sp1k..etc.

It how it sounds, stupid!
I think you can compare SP1000 vs WM1Z yourself :) It is avaiable on the market for long.
